The Minster Community Fund was established in 1994 to promote and support charitable endeavors benefiting the citizens of the Minster School District. The intent is to emphasize community improvements in the following areas: civic projects, education and youth, recreation, health and social services, conservation and environment, and the arts and humanities. The Fund is governed by five members o
f a distribution committee appointed by each of the following organizations or entities: Minster Civic Association, Minster Board of Education, Trustees of Jackson Township, Minster Village Council and the Minster Community Improvement Corporation. The Minster Community Fund raises funds through gifts made for charitable purposes. The Minster Community Fund is a non-profit Section 501(c)(3) organization, which means that donations to the fund are tax deductible for estate and income tax purposes. Gifts in the form of cash, securities, or property are accepted by the fund. The fund also represents an excellent opportunity for estate planning gifts to support improvements and enhancements for the citizens of the Minster School District. Planned gifts can include a bequest in your will, trust planning and even paid up life insurance gifts. The Minster Community Fund is a perpetual fund, which means that the fund attempts to grow its principal while only distributing income. Income generated from the fund through the generous gifts and support of donors is distributed through grants and scholarships based on requests from within the Minster community and school district. Grants may be requested directly from the Fund’s website listed below. A gift in excess of $25,000 may maintain its own identity and can be distributed as directed by the donor, allowing a family to leave a lasting legacy. We currently have three such funds: the Frank and Helen Herkenhoff Scholarship Fund. This fund is set up to grant scholarships to graduates of Minster High School. Stallo Minster Library Fund, this fund supports the F.J. Stallo Minster Library through grants and there currently is one other donor advised fund. The Minster Community Fund, through its distribution committee, is proud of the local organizations and groups who have benefitted over the years from Fund grants or scholarships. Those groups include: Minster Area Life Squad, Minster Athletic Boosters, Minster Historical Society, F.J. Augustine Folk Group, Minster-New Bremen Bike Path, Minster Swim Team, Minster Boys and Girls Little League, Minster Rocket Club, Minster Boy and Girl Scouts, Earl’s Island Pavilion Project and the Minster High School Scholarship Fund, to name a few of the worthy organizations and causes to which fund grants or scholarships have been paid.
