Village of Minster Installs Safety Shutoffs to Prevent Excess Chlorine at Minster Swimming Pool.

The Village of Minster announces the installation of automatic shutoff devices on the pool chemical feed pumps at the Minster Swimming Pool. The new devices immediately cut power to the chemical feed pumps if the pool’s recirculating pump loses power, this prevents the unintended overfeed of chlorine and reduces the risk of elevated chemical levels.

The upgrades follow an incident last week in which unstable pump power contributed to elevated chlorine levels. By linking the chemical feed operation directly to the recirculating pump status, the Village has closed the failure mode that permitted excess chlorine to enter the pool system.

These shutoffs provide an important, automatic layer of protection so swimmers can return with confidence.

The pool has been inspected and cleared for use following the installation. Village officials will continue routine monitoring and will evaluate additional safeguards as needed.

Please do not allow pets on the splash pad.

While we love our furry friends, pet hair can clog the drains and interfere with the splash pad's operation. In addition, pets on the splash pad can create sanitation and safety concerns for everyone enjoying the facility.

Thank you for helping us keep the splash pad clean, safe, and fun for all visitors!

Congratulations to Jake Koverman of Minster, who was presented with the Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship on June 2. Pictured (from left) are Jake’s father, Ben Koverman; Jake; and Jake’s mother, Katy Koverman. A graduate of Anna High School, Jake plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to study mechanical engineering. His father, Ben, is a Senior Lineworker for the Minster Electric Department.

The Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship is one of three awards in the AMP Scholarships Program; it is given to as many as five students annually whose parent or guardian is an employee of either a municipal electric system or AMP, or who is an elected official with responsibility for the electric system. The scholarship was established in memory of Richard H. Gorsuch, who served as AMP’s president from 1983 until his death in 1987 and who was dedicated to promoting the benefits of municipally owned electric utilities. Since 1988, AMP has awarded $561,000 in scholarships.
