We’ve been talking about Save Jane, and now we’re officially one month away. On October 2, our community will come together to recognize the children behind the statistics and stand together against child abuse. Through the reading of each child’s name and age, we’ll help bring awareness to the reality of abuse in our community while honoring the children we serve.

By now, the new backpacks are broken in, routines are starting to settle, and kids are getting back into the rhythm of school. As everyone adjusts, it’s a great time to check in with your child. Ask how things are going, listen to what they have to say, and remind them they can always talk to you or another safe adult if something doesn’t feel right.

When a child needs to share their experience, they deserve to feel safe, supported, and heard. Our specially trained forensic interviewers create a comfortable, child-friendly environment where children can share at their own pace. The process brings information gathering into one interview, helping reduce the number of times a child has to repeat their story. This is just one of the ways we work to reduce trauma and support children and families through the healing process.

Behind every statistic is a child. Save Jane allows our community to recognize the children who have experienced abuse while protecting their identities and honoring their stories. By coming together to read their names, we help bring awareness to the reality of child abuse in our community, break the silence surrounding it, and remind children and families that they are not alone. On October 2, we invite our community to stand together, listen, and show our support for the children we serve.

Technology is changing quickly, and so are the ways offenders can target children online. Grooming and online exploitation can happen through social media, gaming, messaging apps, livestreams, and even AI-powered tools.

The best place to start is awareness. Talk with your child about what they’re doing online, remind them to keep personal information private, and make sure they know they can come to you if something feels uncomfortable or wrong.

When needed, we connect children with specialized medical professionals who are trained to evaluate concerns related to abuse in a child-focused, compassionate environment. These medical services help ensure children receive the care they need while supporting the investigative process.
