Last weekend the 164 EN BN conducted its Change of Command Ceremony thanking LTC Steven Bohl for his exemplary leadership for over two years and welcomed LTC Benjamin Barille as the incoming Battalion Commander. LTC Bohl has been the 164 Commander since May of 2023. Over the past 28 months he has commanded both the 164 EN BN and served as the Commander for Task Force Operations of the Army’s Command and Control CBRN Response Element - Bravo (C2CRE-B) a specialized task force that brought together units from California, Texas, Missouri, and North Dakota. TF Operations conducted large scale training exercises in six different states and simulated catastrophic events and the preservation of over 260,000 lives. Under LTC Bohl’s command the 164 also executed a full closure wet gap crossing of the Missouri River and deployed the 817 EN CO. LTC Barille is also no stranger to the Battalion as he served as the lead Planning Officer throughout the two year C2CRE-B mission and has previously served as the 164 BN Executive Officer.

Captain Hesse, HHC 164’s Military Reserve Training Exchange Soldier from Germany, tries an American MRE for the first time!

06/11/2025

During AT 25, HHC 164 EN BN successfully completed a WGX in order to jump the BN TAC alongside the 957 MRBC. This exercise provided valuable hands-on experience in combined operations, while also enhancing coordination and readiness between engineering and maneuver units. The collaboration strengthened unit cohesion and prepared both for future operational deployments.

A Mobile Kitchen Trailer from 231 FFT was rigged first, then a generator trailer, and 2 iterations of a pallet of MRE’s in a cargo net. Soldiers went on orientation flights in the Blackhawk. FSC 142 also sent Soldiers to the training, assisting in train up and sling inspection.
Note the last cargo net sling was hooked up by our visiting German officer CPT Hesse.
