Anyone else tired of the traffic barrels and cones when you drive South Broadway?
Good news: you're not going to be tired of them anymore. You're going to be downright exhausted.

Starting tomorrow (June 16), crews will begin a mill-and-overlay project on South Broadway between 40th Ave SW and 28th Ave SW. This work is limited to the northbound lanes only.

In the northbound lanes, one lane will be closed while crews complete repairs, and traffic will shift to allow work on the second lane.

🚧 Speeds will be reduced to 25 mph for the duration of the project.
🚧 This project is expected to be completed before the start of the North Dakota State Fair (NDSF).
🚧 Please drive with caution and maybe brush up on your zipper merge skills (zipper merge awareness is optional in practice, apparently).

Plan your routes accordingly:
🚫No northbound left turn at 37th Ave SW
🚫No northbound right turn at 31st Ave SW

And no, we're not going to address the traffic cone in the room regarding the southbound lane closure. If you have questions about that project, please check with our good friends at NDDOT.

Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the roadway.

Puppy Dog Coulee project to transition to Phase 7B.

Construction activity on the Puppy Dog Coulee storm sewer project will transition to Phase 7B, bringing new traffic impacts to southwest Minot.

Additional construction activity is scheduled to begin June 15 as part of Phase 7B and will result in a partial closure on 24th Ave SW. The closure will impact the Dakota Plaza and Highlands Plaza parking lot entrances and 24th Ave SW between Mall Loop Road and the east entrance to the Arco Gas Station. Businesses along 24th Ave SW remain open and will be accessible. 24th Ave SW through traffic will be detoured to 22nd Ave SW.

Crews will begin the underground utility work (storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water mains) and reconstruction of the portion of 24th Ave SW between the Arco Gas Station and Mall Loop Road.

The temporary traffic shift on 16th St SW will remain in effect as crews continue to work in Phase 9. No left turns from 24th Ave SW onto 16th St SW will be allowed during this phase. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and observe speed limits while traveling through the work zone.

It's a Citizens on Central evening, so while the community gathers, we're going to cross the river on Broadway instead of 3rd Street.

Minot City Transit North Central and West routes will both travel 4th Avenue NW and Broadway starting at 2:30 through the end of the Transit day. North Central will rejoin the normal route on Main, and West Route will rejoin at Minot City Transit Center.

Reminder that all buses do lead to the Transit Center downtown if you'd like a lift there - it's an easy walk to the activity. Buses make their last run at 6:30.

Friendly reminder, the three-day detour on 16th St. NW has officially begun.

Road closure signs, detour signs, etc. were set up earlier today. Again, this is so crews can replace the water main at the intersection of 11th Ave. NW and 16th St. NW.

The closure/detour is anticipated to remain in place for approximately three days from today, although the exact reopening date will depend on construction progress and conditions.

Please plan your routes accordingly, and thank you for your understanding.
