Dear Minot Community,
Since the fall of 2022, we have been honored to work on the introduction, fundraising, community engagement, and now completion of the Union Silos Public Art Project in downtown Minot. Witnessing this historic landmark in the Minot skyline transform into North Dakota's largest work of public art has been nothing short of amazing. We want to thank and celebrate the entire community for the heart, time, and trust you’ve poured into this project—your commitment has truly shaped a lasting symbol of Minot’s spirit. And we are so grateful to world-famous artist Guido van Helten for choosing Minot as the North Dakota site for his Monuments project!
Together, our community has raised over $350,000 in donations and in-kind gifts to make this project. We have met and exceeded the cost of the project, and extra funds will be used for future events and purchases related to Union Silos. This support came through hundreds of individual donations and generous gifts from local businesses, civic organizations, and foundations. Thank you to the Minot Area Council of the Arts for serving as the fiscal agent for this project, allowing us to apply for grants and donations and making all financial support tax-deductible. This support proves what the three of us and our colleagues on this project have always known: The Minot community always shows up for what matters, drawing on our deep roots of hard work, resilience, and togetherness as we keep pushing for a stronger, brighter future. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this monumental art happen!
Now that the painting is done, there are a few more things that you can expect from us moving forward. First, we are collaborating with Visit Minot to create interpretive signage for the site, ensuring Union Silos appears as a regional point of interest. Secondly, save the date for the Silobration 2.0, happening at Citizen's Alley on Friday, August 28, 2026, thanks to our generous sponsor, Town and Country Credit Union. We are featuring local star Chloe Raye and her band, celebrating our project and all that it represents. Finally, you should expect to see the publication of a much larger collection of community photos captured by artist Guido van Helten during his year with Minot later this year.
In the meantime, sit back, relax, and enjoy this incredible community accomplishment. Share your throughout the seasons, and show it off to friends and family when they come to Minot. Tell others how our community came together to make this happen and the gift it is for future generations. We are so incredibly proud of the Minot community, today and always, and we are excited for all of the good things that are still to come on the horizon.
In service to our community,
Tim Baumann, Chelsea Gleich, and Cole Krueger
