Nearly 60 pounds of methamphetamine seized in Golden Valley!

Earlier this month, detectives with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office West Metro Drug Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant at an apartment in Golden Valley following an investigation.

During the search, investigators recovered approximately 59.6 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly 2 pounds of co***ne, and $16,976 in cash, along with multiple cell phones and digital scales.

A 44-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. He is being charged with two felony counts of First-Degree Aggravated Controlled Substance Crime with two aggravating factors. This significant seizure represents dangerous drugs taken off the streets. We’re proud of the investigative work of our West Metro Drug Task Force and their continued efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and keep our communities safe.

The West Metro Drug Task Force (WMDTF) is a multi-jurisdictional task force supported by the North Central High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program and includes officers from departments all over Hennepin County, including HCSO, Orono Police Department, Medina Police Department - MN, West Hennepin Public Safety, Minnetrista, South Lake Minnetonka Police Department, Edina Police & Fire Departments, City of Richfield Police Department, Eden Prairie Police Department, St. Louis Park, Minnesota Police Department, Hopkins Police Department, and Minnetonka Police Department.

One year ago today, we launched Minnesota's first Drones as First Responders Program (DFR).

In just 12 months, DFR has become a valuable tool for our officers and first responders, helping us respond faster, get real-time information, locate people, improve officer safety and determine when a call may not require an officer to respond in person.

And the numbers tell only part of the story.

Behind every statistic, officers are making better-informed decisions, first responders are getting a clearer picture of an incident and community members are receiving a more efficient response.

We’ve also spent the past year learning what works, making adjustments and sharing our experience with other agencies interested in DFR.

Take a look at the impact this program is having on public safety in our community and learn more about the program at the link in bio.

Don’t let the good looks fool you.

K9 Rory is a highly trained member of our department. From patrol work to narcotics detection, Rory and her handler, Officer Schlueter, train regularly to keep their skills sharp and stay ready for whatever comes their way.

It takes focus, teamwork and dedication to be a police K9, and Rory brings all three to work every day. 🐾
