Today we’re spotlighting the Non-Federal Career Pathways into Forestry Blog Series!
The Society of American Foresters’ Career Center partnered with , the U.S. Forests and Wood Products Sector Inclusion Council, Dovetail Partners Inc., and the U.S. Endowment to produce this blog series. It explores careers beyond traditional federal forestry roles, highlighting opportunities in private industry, nonprofits, Tribal organizations, consulting, and related sectors. The series shares real-world experiences and practical guidance for students, early- and mid-career professionals, and anyone considering a forestry career.
Blog 1 opens with:
"When students talk about careers in forestry or natural resources, one role comes up again and again: park ranger. It makes sense. Forestry is often associated with being outdoors all day, working independently, and spending quiet time among the trees.
But forestry is much bigger than that single image.”
