What does safety mean to you?

For some, it’s having a stable place to sleep. For others, it’s being heard, believed, and treated with dignity. For many survivors, safety is the chance to begin again, free from violence and fear.

At Tubman, we work every day to help make safety possible through shelter, advocacy, legal services, and healing support.

If you’d like to be part of this mission, please consider making a gift today to help survivors take their next step toward safety and hope: https://heyor.ca/lEY6sZ

Throughout 2026, we've been sharing pictures and stories of Tubman's 50 years in the community. Last night, we kept the celebration going by honoring former and current board members and the founders of Tubman's original predecessor organizations, at our Founder & Board Reunion.

The Tubman of today would truly not be what we are without the passion of the Founding Mothers of Chrysalis, A Center for Women; Harriet Tubman Women's Shelter; ElderCare Rights Alliance; and Family Violence Network; and dedication of so many community members and friends serving on our boards in the last 50 years.

THANK YOU for sharing your stories, your history, and your love for Tubman. 💜

Project Down & Dirty has taken off! 🛫 💜

We are incredibly fortunate to be part of myTalk 107.1 - Minneapolis/St. Paul's annual Project Down & Dirty. Brittany and Kendall are working hard to raise money for Tubman and our Freedom Fund for direct client assistance. Yesterday was Day 1 at MSP Airport and the Intercontinental Hotel, and our CEO Jen Polzin, former client Michelle, and committee volunteer Ivy were able to sit down with B & K to talk all things Tubman.

Today, our Director of Communications & Public Policy Heather Petri, and Zeman Construction Company CEO Mark Zeman will be joining the show, so tune in to MyTalk107.1 to hear them. And be sure to tune in tomorrow, too for the final day of Project Down & Dirty Airport! PHEW! We gotta take a second to catch our breath, this HOPEtober is FLYING by!
Here's a recap of the last couple weeks of events:

💜 Yesterday, we had a fabulous time playing dress up and talking with folks at EVEREVE in Wayzata for our Shop for a Cause night.
💜 October 15 was ! Purple is the official color of Domestic Violence Awareness, and Purple Thursday is all about showing out and showing up for survivors in our favorite purple hues.
💜 Then two weeks ago, we had a double header of our Pro Bono Attorney Appreciation event, honoring an amazing group of legal professionals who volunteer their time and expertise serving our clients, followed by Drag Queen Charity Bingo at Roxy's Cabaret!

Thank you to EVERYONE who's come out over the past couple weeks, and throughout the month, to support Tubman, HOPEtober, and the people we serve! Our HOPEtober campaign is still happening through October 31. Make your gift today and help us continue supporting the needs of our community!

We all deserve to feel safe, respected, and supported as we age.

Yet elder abuse remains a largely hidden issue. Nearly 47% of perpetrators are family members, and only 1 in 24 cases are estimated to be reported to authorities. Because the signs are not always visible, many older adults suffer in silence.

Elder abuse can take many forms, including: • Physical abuse • Emotional abuse • Financial exploitation • Neglect • Isolation

At Tubman, we believe every person deserves the opportunity to experience safety, hope, and healing, regardless of age. Through advocacy, support services, and community education, we're raising awareness and helping create safer futures for older adults across our community.

This HOPEtober, you can make a difference. 💜

Your donation helps Tubman continue providing life-changing services and support for people experiencing trauma, violence, and abuse at every stage of life.

Not all survivors experience domestic violence the same way.

A survivor's race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability status, immigration status, faith, and culture can all impact how they experience abuse and whether they can access the help they need.

Understanding these barriers is an important step toward creating a community where every survivor feels seen, supported, and empowered to heal.

As we celebrate 50 Years of Service, we're working to raise $50,000 this October to ensure survivors continue receiving inclusive, trauma-informed support.

Every survivor deserves access to safety, advocacy, and hope, so please consider making a donation today: https://heyor.ca/fAYADZ

Domestic violence, also called "intimate partner violence", isn’t just physical. It can be emotional, sexual, financial—even digital.

If you recognize any of these forms of abuse in your life—or in the life of someone you care about—know this: you are not alone, and help is available.

Share this post to raise awareness and let survivors in our community know that help and hope are within reach. 💜

This HOPEtober, you can help provide shelter, advocacy, and healing services for survivors by donating to Tubman and giving the gift of HOPE: https://heyor.ca/lEY6sZ
