Thursday June 18, 25
Tuesday June 30

Time:
5pm-7pm

Location:
Niibi Hall

No experience required. All are welcome!

"This course provides instruction in American Sign Language (ASL) and Re‑Indigenizing Sign Language practices, designed especially for Native communities. Cindi's teaching approach centers on cultural safety, Indigenous knowledge, and the lived experience of navigating both the Deaf community and Native community. Students will learn ASL structure, visual communication skills, and the cultural foundations of Indigenous sign systems that existed long before ASL. The goal is to strengthen communication access, restore cultural knowledge, and support Native Deaf visibility and sovereignty."

ONE NIGHT ONLY in MINNEAPOLIS! Join us Wednesday, June 17 (6:30-9pm) at the Riverview Theater for this important film screening of The Doctrine and Q&A conversation to follow with filmmaker Gwendolen Cates, and featured activists Mitch Walking Elk and Nina Berglund.

The Doctrine explores the legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery on driving violence against Indigenous Peoples, land, and water in the Americas and around the world. The central narrative follows a group of Indigenous youth from the Twin Cities who travel to the Vatican to confront the Catholic Church about the Doctrine and its legacy. The film exposes how the Doctrine has targeted communities of color around the world for centuries, and still today enables corporate forces driving the climate crisis.

Doors 6:30pm, Screening and Q&A 7-9pm
Tickets available at the door and in advance, no one turned away for lack of funds
