Meals On Wheels Meals on Wheels serves hot and frozen meals and provides daily check-ins.

Metro Meals on Wheels is the association of 27 Meals on Wheels programs in the Twin Cities metro area. With our program partners, we lead the effort to make sure people in our community receive the nutritious meals and the human connection they need to help them live independently. Meals on Wheels is a community-based service that provides fresh, nutritious meals delivered directly to the homes of

seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout the Twin Cities. In addition to regularly providing healthy foods, caring volunteers provide social connection that helps meal recipients remain living independently in their own homes. With the help of Meals on Wheels programs, seniors and people with disabilities get the nourishment and human connection needed to support daily activities, while reducing the need for medical support. For some recipients, these daily meals are the difference between living in their own homes and moving to a nursing home. Meals on Wheels could not exist without the help of volunteers who deliver the meals and donors who help those who cannot afford it pay for the meals.

The Twin Cities is home to one of the nation's largest pride celebrations, culminating with a festival and parade the last weekend in June. Meals on Wheels is proud to support LGBTQ+ older adults and we've compiled a list of other organizations in the Twin Cities that offer resources and social connections in our community on our blog!

School is out for the summer! If you are looking for an enriching summer activity for your kids, consider delivering Meals on Wheels with them!

Delivering meals with kids introduces them to the concepts of community responsibility and the importance of nutrition. For many recipients, the daily visit from volunteers is the only human contact they’ll have all day, so imagine the joy on their faces when they’re greeted by smiling children! It also provides children the opportunity to build relationships with older adults and people from different walks of life in their own community.
