🗳You can vote in-person before election day on November 3.

To vote early in person do the following:

1️⃣If you are voting early in-person, you will need to go to an early voter center. Minneapolis residents can vote early at the Minneapolis Election and Voter Services, 980 E. Hennepin Ave. You can also vote early at Hennepin County Government building and designated “pop-up" sites. Hennepin County Government building is located at 300 South 6th Street in downtown Minneapolis. Voting early is from September 18 - November 2, 2026.

2️⃣If you are already registered to vote, you do not have to bring your ID with you. If you are not registered to vote, need to update your registration or have not voted in the last four years, you will need to provide proof of residency using one of the methods listed at the registration information page on the Minnesota SOS website:https://www.sos.mn.gov/media/a0dpevwz/2026electiondayregistration.pdf

3️⃣If you vote early in person more than 18 days before election day (Sept 18 - October 15, 2026), you will put your completed ballot into several envelopes just as you would if voting by mail. Voting in person more than 18 days before the election is a similar process to voting using an absentee ballot.

4️⃣If you vote early in person within 18 days of the election (October 16 - November 2, 2026 for the general election), you will feed your ballot directly into the ballot counter as you would do on November 3. Voting early within 18 days of election day is a similar process to voting in person on election day.

📣You do not have to go to the polls on election day to cast your ballot. 🗳

Voting early, also called “absentee” voting, allows you to vote before November 3. As Minnesota has “no-excuse” absentee voting, any registered voter can request a ballot without needing a specific reason.

To vote early do the following:

1. Request your absentee ballot here from the Minnesota SOS website: https://www.sos.mn.gov/elections-voting/
It is recommended that you do this by October 20.

2. Follow the directions exactly to ensure your ballot is counted. You will need a witness when voting and completing your ballot. The witness must be either a U.S. citizen at least 18 years old or a notary public, who is often available at a bank.

3. Return your ballot as soon as possible. All ballots must be received by election day (November 3, 2026 for the general election) or it will not be counted.

Select one of these three ways to return your ballot:

✔Mail it back at least 7 days before election day using the pre-addressed postage paid envelope provided.

or

✔Drop it off in-person at your local election office. Minneapolis residents can return their ballot before November 3, to Minneapolis Election and Voter Services, 980 E. Hennepin Ave. On November 3, you can return your ballot to 980 E Hennepin Ave location or to Hennepin County Government Center at the Skyway level, 300 6th Ave. S.

or

✔Have someone return it for you at your local election office. This person will need to provide identification and a signature.

To be sure your ballot was received, check your ballot status online on the Minnesota SOS website: https://www.sos.mn.gov/elections-voting/

One last rule to remember: you cannot return your ballot to a polling place on election day. You need to return it to your local election office.
