Join us and celebrate on the Norway Block on Syttende Mai!

Syttende Mai is the day Norway ratified its constitution in 1814 at Eidsvoll and Norwegians celebrate with excited crowds—especially children—marching through the streets, waving flags, and singing songs.

On Wednesday, the 17th of May, Norway House will be hosting a presentation from Up Norway in the morning and the 41st annual Syttende Mai banquet in the evening. More information can be found here: https://www.norwayhouse.org/calendar/home

On Sunday, the 21st, we will celebrate by gathering for a special worship service at Mindekirken, the oldest Norwegian-speaking congregation, celebrating 100 years this year!

After the service, we form a people's parade (folketog) around the neighborhood and circle back to the Norway Block for hot dogs, chips, ice cream, and soda - the customary delicacies of 17. Mai in Norway.
