How do I know if my child needs Speech Therapy?

If your child struggles in any of these areas, Speech Therapy may help.

1) Hard to understand speech: • others can't understand what your child is saying • they leave off sounds or mix them up • use sounds like a much younger child

2) Trouble following directions or understanding: • seem confused with simple instructions like “go get your shoes and put them by the door” • frequently say “what?” even when their hearing is fine

3. Not expressing thoughts clearly: • struggles putting sentences together • difficult time finding the right words • frustration when they try to explain something

Our team was proud to show-up and make noise in St. Paul for the 2026 Disability Advocacy Day at the Capitol in support of equity, inclusion, and equality for our community members!

It was inspiring to stand alongside so many passionate advocates, speakers, and legislators working toward meaningful change to protect Medicaid, protect waiver services, and promote safety in our community. 💙📢

SMIF is partnering with A Chance To Grow (ACTG) to provide a discounted rate to professionals located in our region.

This interactive and energetic workshop is designed for any Early Childhood educator or professional working with three- to five-year-old children. The instructors are all former and current educators and professionals with vast experience and knowledge in how to implement the program in any setting! At the workshop, you will:

✨Learn how the brain functions and is stimulated through movement
✨Understand how to look at children developmentally
✨Experience a variety of S.M.A.R.T. activities
✨Participate in Make & Takes AND have time for planning
