"We adopted four children, and despite being a foster mom, we weren't prepared for the trauma they carried—or the astonishing transformation that followed."
When Kimie and Jenni adopted four children, they expected challenges—but they never imagined how deeply trauma, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, and autism would impact their family.

To help create awareness of PTSD for June, Kimie and Jenni are sharing their story to help others.

Their oldest son, Tae, struggled with focus, emotional regulation, and impulse control. Desperate for help, they turned to neurofeedback at A Chance To Grow.

What happened next was almost unbelievable.

"The changes in focus, emotional stability, and overall functioning weren't just noticeable to us," Kimie shares. "Teachers, therapists, and family members saw the difference too."

Reflecting, Kimie adds, "The progress we saw in under a month was astonishing."

The results were so powerful that the entire family began neurofeedback brain training through the rental program at ACTG.

Today, Kimie says, "Our family is calmer, less impulsive, and more in control of our emotions. Neurofeedback has made a remarkable difference in every member of our family."

Sometimes what looks like “bad behavior,” is signs of a nervous system stuck in survival mode.

PTSD isn’t always obvious. It can look like:

Hypervigilance, anxiety, and constant fight-or-flight

Big emotions, meltdowns, or shutting down

Sensory overload from noise, lights, touch, or crowds

Difficulty with focus, memory, and processing

Challenges with communication, speech, and social interaction

For many children and families, these struggles are not because of a lack of effort—they are signs of a nervous system working hard to feel safe.

The good news, our Occupational Therapy, Neurofeedback, and Neuro-Integrative programs help children and families every day to move out of surviving and into thriving.

Imagine having so much to say but no one can understand you. 💙

Ben* knew what he wanted to say, but the words often came out jumbled or got stuck before he could express them. As frustration grew, so did the meltdowns and moments of shutting down.

When Ben began speech therapy at A Chance To Grow, everything started to change. His therapist recognized challenges others had overlooked and helped him build the skills and confidence to communicate clearly.

Today, Ben is talking, laughing, sharing his thoughts, and connecting with others in ways that once seemed out of reach. The little boy who struggled to be understood now feels heard—and that has changed his world and opportunities in such a big way!
