Congratulations to the newest graduates of PPL’s Building Operations Technician (BOT) program! 🎉

After nine months of hard work and learning, 16 participants from our program have graduated and are ready for the next steps in their careers. We’re excited that many have already found jobs in their field, while others are continuing their education journey or job search. Thank you to our employer partners, State of Minnesota, Hennepin County Government and Aeon, for supporting the program through mock interviews, job shadowing and presentations.

We’re so proud of everything this cohort has accomplished and can’t wait to see what comes next.

Today marks the end of Supportive Housing Week, a nationwide initiative led by CSH that demonstrates the positive impact supportive housing has on thousands of communities across the country.

We know how transformative supportive housing is to the long-term stability and success of individuals and families. We want to thank our extraordinary PPL Resident Services teams who bring this important work to life, every day.

Their roles require compassion, resilience, patience, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to people. Our teams embody all of this and more as they work alongside residents to ensure that housing is more than a place to live.

We’re thankful for our partnership with For Goodness Cakes! Their volunteers help make PPL resident celebrations special with custom-made cakes! 🍰

A For Goodness Cakes baker recently created the best Hello Kitty cupcakes for a first birthday celebration at one of our communities, and they were perfect!

Thank you to For Goodness Cakes for making these special moments even sweeter!

The backpack and supply drive was a huge success, and we are feeling very grateful!

Thank you to Greater Twin Cities United Way for putting together the backpack pickup and amazing partners Shane’s Crew and The Wine Company for their generous donations and to our PPL staff who helped make it all happen.

The best part is that 503 backpacks were packed with supplies and are headed to PPL residents and programs to help our families kick off the school year!

We were thrilled to welcome volunteer teams from Ryan Companies and RSM for a Beautification Day at Fort Road Flats! Their hard work resulted in a fantastic new playground and landscaping transformation.

Despite the summer heat, 39 volunteers and Fort Road Flats residents worked together to spread mulch throughout the playground and community areas, creating a more welcoming outdoor space for residents and families.

Our partners also helped fund a new solar-powered light above the basketball hoop, providing a lighted place to play into the evening. Thanks to RSM’s Dollars for Doers program, the volunteer hours from this event will also become a financial donation supporting the Fort Road Flats Youth Program.

A big thank-you to everyone involved for your generosity, partnership and commitment to community. We are grateful for your lasting impact!

Our Hawthorne EcoVillage garden got a major glow up thanks to our amazing residents, community volunteers and property management team! Together, we pulled weeds, rebuilt garden beds and planted seeds. We’re already seeing veggies starting to grow! 🫑🥕🍅

Last month, our July Board Tour Series continued with visits to Collaborative Village Initiative, The Williams and Rising Cedar, and it was a highlight of the summer.

Board members spent time with PPL staff who bring our mission to life every day, hearing what's working, where opportunities exist and what home means for residents across our communities. At The Williams, one thing we couldn't do was step inside a unit. The property is 100% occupied, with every home spoken for. It's a powerful reminder of both the strength of community and how urgently the
Twin Cities needs more affordable housing.

These tours offered a firsthand look at the impact of stable, affordable housing and the people who make this work possible every day.

We came away grateful, energized and even more committed to the work we share.
