Fort Snelling National Cemetery

in 1983, a terrorist bombing at the Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon claimed the lives of 241 U.S. service members, including 220 Marines. A su***de bomber drove a truck laden with explosives into the barracks where U.S. Marines were stationed on a peacekeeping mission. The attack became one of the deadliest days in U.S. Marine Corps history.
Three of the 220 Marines are interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Today we pause to remember them and honor their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty.

Organized by Bloomington Remembers Veterans and the City of Bloomington with support from Bloomington American Legion Post 550, the Ribbon Cutting and Opening Celebration will honor the opening of the new Bloomington Veterans Memorial at Harrison Park.

Our floral policy is seasonal. You can place artificial flowers on graves from October 1 through April 1 only. (fresh flowers are always acceptable) Wreaths and grave blankets are okay starting November 1 and will be removed by volunteers or employees in mid-January. Your cooperation goes a long way to help keep the cemetery beautiful!
