The time for the urban office to move from Franklin to Bloomington is upon us. We will be closed this Wednesday and Thursday for moving. Friday and Monday we will be closed for Juneteenth and Hinckley Powwow weekend (which urban staff are required to work at). We are hoping everything goes smoothly and we will be able to open our doors at our new location at 2224 Bloomington Avenue South starting next Tuesday, June 23rd. Thank you for your patience, support and well wishes. You guys truly are great. Can’t wait to share our new space and create new memories with our band members and clients at the new urban office! ❤️

🏠 You're Invited: Celebrate the Opening of Ventura!
The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe invites Band members, relatives, partners, and the broader community to join us as we celebrate the opening of Ventura, our new 36-unit affordable housing development in South Minneapolis.

This project represents more than housing — it creates a place where Native families can access affordable homes and important services in one location, helping strengthen community connections and support future generations.

Ventura brings together 36 affordable homes for Band member families and Native households, along with Band services conveniently located on the ground floor.

We hope you'll join us as we celebrate this exciting milestone for the Mille Lacs Band and the Native community in Minneapolis.
Miigwech, and we look forward to seeing you there!

📢 Open House and Ribbon-Cutting Event:

📅 Tuesday, June 30
🕚 11 a.m.
📍 2224 Bloomington Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55404
Please note: 23rd Street will be partially closed during the event to accommodate the celebration.

What to Expect
🔹 Remarks from Band leadership and project partners
🔹 A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at the building entrance
🔹 An open house featuring services offered through the MLBO Urban Office, Aanjibimaadizing, and MLBO Human Services
🔹 Guided tours of vacant residential units and the Ventura playground

Interested in Living at Ventura?
Residential unit availability is managed by CMD/Housing, not the Urban Office. If you'd like to be considered for housing at Ventura, CMD is the office to talk to. CMD is building the interest list now and will handle future applications, eligibility, and other questions directly. Getting on the interest list is the first step and is not the same as completing an application, so it doesn’t guarantee housing. Once on the interest list, CMD can reach out to you with the next steps when applications open. Applications will open later this summer. Contact Housing now to be added to the interest list.

06/03/2026

I want to address something that has become increasingly concerning on this page.

This space was created for positive purposes—to inform, uplift, celebrate, and support our community. Unfortunately, there has been a growing number of toxic, hurtful, and unnecessary comments that do not contribute to productive conversation.

If you have grievances with a particular department, agency, or organization, those concerns should be directed to the appropriate people and channels. Social media is not the place to attack individuals who may have no involvement in the issue. No one should be blamed for the actions or decisions of others.

Far too often, we tear each other down instead of building each other up. We criticize instead of encourage. We divide instead of unite. This needs to stop.

We are a beautiful, proud, talented, and intelligent people. We are capable of respectful dialogue, constructive criticism, and meaningful conversations without resorting to personal attacks or negativity.

Moving forward, I ask everyone to be mindful of how they engage on this page. Let us treat one another with dignity and respect. Let us focus on solutions rather than blame, understanding rather than hostility, and unity rather than division.

Be the kind of person who lifts others up. Our community is stronger when we support one another.

Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute positively and respectfully.
