Today, Rep. Allen attended the ribbon-cutting for the new College of Health Sciences building at Carroll University. In the most recent budget, Rep. Allen fought for an increase in funding for the Wisconsin Grants program, which directly aids private and independent colleges and universities. These institutions produce 23% of bachelor's degrees and 33% of all advanced degrees in the state. This strategic investment will impact the Wisconsin workforce almost immediately.

Costs for We Energies’ residential customers would increase from around $144 per month now to $166 per month in 2028 – about a 15% increase – under a rate hike proposed by the utility in April.

Combined rates for We Energies’ residential and business customers – excluding data centers – would increase 4.7% in 2027 and 4.5% in 2028. Non-data center customers would pay an additional $355 million under the proposed rates.

The Public Service Commission is currently reviewing We Energies’ proposal and will take public comment on the proposed increases in a pair of hearings at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Marquette University’s Alumni Memorial Union in Milwaukee.
