Wishing everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day today.

As we gather with friends and family and enjoy the freedoms we are blessed with, let us not forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice to allow us to have this freedom. We also honor the families and loved ones who carry on without them.

In regards to a post that was made earlier:

Yes, the Minerva Fire Department fuels apparatus at fuel pumps located off Arrow road. This arrangement was made because it provides several benefits to the department and taxpayers, including lower fuel costs, 24/7 fuel availability, and easy access.

This came about due to no local businesses being open over holidays, all weekend, in the evenings/night for apparatus to fuel after calls.
Unfortunately emergencies don't just happen during business hours.

The fuel tank is owned by the fuel supplier along with the electronic pump system that employees use a personal code to obtain fuel. This allows the usage to be billed to the appropriate party.

A comment was made that "IFTA would love to see this". Companies using fuel from this tank operate only intrastate so the appropriate tax is applied to their usage and the fire department is tax exempt. All of this is monitored and controlled by the electric system. Again, this third party electronic system allows all usage to be checked and audited at any time.

As has been stated previously, all Board of Directors meetings are open to the public. Anyone with questions or concerns is welcome to attend. Our next meeting is tomorrow evening at 6PM, and we would be happy to discuss the matter, provide accurate information, and answer any questions.
Chief Dave Catlett is also available to answer any questions or concerns with the fire department at (330)205-0191.

National EMS Week

While our posts are mostly fire related, EMS is a huge part of what we do every day. Most of the members of the Minerva Fire Department are trained to serve both as firefighters and EMS providers, answering the call whenever our community needs help.

This week, we want to recognize and thank all of our EMS personnel—both career and volunteer—for the sacrifices they make to serve others.

Whether providing emergency medical care, offering comfort during difficult moments, or responding at all hours of the day and night, their dedication does not go unnoticed.

Thank you to all of our EMS providers for your commitment, compassion, and service to our community.

Tonight’s training gave members of the Minerva Fire Department the opportunity to work with the new dry hydrant recently installed at Liberty Tire Recycling.
We appreciate the continued support and cooperation from Liberty Tire in helping improve water access and fire protection capabilities within our district.
