Remembering the fallen heros of 9-11. 412 brave first responders lost their lives trying to save lives that day. Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement Officers united and working together. 🇺🇸🚒🚑🚓 Time stood still that day as we all watched the new feeds coming in. We was so far away but our hearts and prayers was with them all. RIP to all lives lost on 9-11.

At approximately 21:10:53 Central Dispatch notified us of a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Interstate I-77. Engine 41 and Rescue 45 responded to the scene shortly after the call went out. When Engine 41 arrive WVU Medicine EMS was on scene and reported heavy entrapment. Engine 41 and Rescue 45s crew all began a heavy entrapment and technical rescue. The car hauler was on its side making us have to extricate the patient vertically from the vehicle.

After this our focus shifted to the fuel spilling out of the car hauler and all the vehicles it was hauling. Due to the rain it was hard to estimate the amount of fuel leaking from the involved vehicles. With this incident being so close to a rapidly rising stream (due to flash flooding) DEP (Department of environmental protection) was notified.

At this time Director of Emergency Management (from the Wood County 911 center) arrived on scene as a crucial asset in managing a scene like this.

WVDOH blocked off the slow lane in order for cleanup efforts to move swiftly and safely. While Lubeck 23 and 28 helped shove traffic over until WVDOH arrived on scene.

The summary of this incident is it takes a well oiled team to manage scenes like this and everyone played a critical role in ensuring operations ran smoothly and we couldn’t ask for a better team than the ones around us.

All units cleared scene and returned to their respected stations shortly after.

Agencies involved include
Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department Pond Creek Vfd WVDOH, WVU CCAS, WVDEP, Wood County, WV E911 (Director of Emergency Management), WCSO.
