๐ก Why Revaluation Matters for the City of Mineral Point
As the City of Mineral Point continues to grow and change, it is important that our property assessments keep pace with the community we live in.
A municipal revaluation is about fairness and equity. Over time, property values change at different rates. When assessments become outdated, some property owners may be paying a largerโor smallerโshare of the overall property tax burden than they should.
A revaluation helps bring assessments more in line with current market values and creates a more equitable distribution of the taxes needed to support the services our community relies on.
It is important to understand that a revaluation does not result in the City raising taxes or increasing its budget. The primary purpose is to ensure that properties are assessed fairly relative to one another.
For Mineral Point, accurate assessments also help provide better information for responsible municipal planning and decision-making.
Change can be challenging, and questions about property values and taxes are understandable. But maintaining an accurate and equitable assessment system is an important responsibility to every property owner in Mineral Point.
