On Tuesday, May 26th, 2026, at approximately 0013 hours (12:13 AM), a Miner officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to maintain a single lane on State Highway H near State Highway HH. As the vehicle stopped, the officer observed the driver making furtive movements inside the vehicle and throwing items from the passenger side window into the grass. The driver was detained and later admitted to throwing an ounce of methamphetamine from the vehicle.
Officers recovered multiple baggies and a small glass container containing substances which field tested positive for methamphetamine. The driver admitted the items belonged to him and said he had recently purchased the drugs in Sikeston. The combined weight of the suspected methamphetamine was approximately 33 grams or 1.164 ounces. The driver was taken into custody, and the evidence was seized.
A probable cause affidavit was completed and forwarded to the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review. Formal charges were filed and an arrest warrant was issued through the Scott County Circuit Court against Jason M. Spence (52) of Sikeston, MO for three counts of possession of a controlled substance, with a $60,000.00 cash or surety bond.
