I was honored to join the Incorporated Village of Valley Stream and the Elks Lodge in the Incorporated Village of Lynbrook for their 9/11 Memorial Ceremonies, remembering the local families who lost loved ones and paying tribute to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice.

It was especially meaningful to see Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in attendance. As a new generation grows up, it is our responsibility to ensure they learn this history, remember those we lost, and carry their stories forward.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor the lives taken, the courage shown, and the families forever impacted. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

On September 11, 2001, our nation experienced unimaginable loss, and here in Nassau County, too many families said goodbye to loved ones who never came home. For those families, the pain of that day is not measured in years. Their loved ones are remembered in the lives they touched, the memories they left behind, and the communities that continue to carry their names in our hearts.

Today, I join families across Nassau County and beyond in honoring every life lost, remembering the heroes who answered the call, and recognizing the strength and resilience of those who carried on.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Please join me and the Nassau County Department of Assessment for a Homeowner Exemption Liaison Program (HELP)event to receive one-on-one assistance applying for property tax exemptions, including Senior, Veteran, Enhanced STAR (for eligible homeowners), Volunteer Firefighter & Ambulance Worker, and Limited-Income Disability exemptions.

Upcoming HELP Events in LD14 (12–2 p.m.)
• TOMORROW-Sept. 9 – Elmont Memorial Library
• Oct. 22 – Valley Stream VFW Post 1790

Please arrive by 1:30 p.m. and bring your 2025 federal and state tax returns and any required documentation.

Please be advised of upcoming bridge maintenance work at S. Franklin Avenue in Valley Stream.

Beginning Friday, September 11, weather permitting, crews will perform essential maintenance, including painting and repairs to the bridge's steel and concrete elements.

Work Schedule:�• September 11–13�• September 18–20�• September 25–27�• Continuous work from 10:00 PM Friday through 10:00 PM Sunday each weekend.

To accommodate the work, full lane closures beneath the bridge will be in effect. Detours will be clearly marked, and access to the Valley Stream LIRR Station will be maintained. Motorists are encouraged to use Hicks Streetand Rockaway Avenue as alternate routes.

Backpacks packed, supplies ready, and students getting set for a new school year!

I was proud to attend UBS Arena’s Backpack Giveaway, where local students received free backpacks filled with school essentials. Events like this are a great reminder that supporting our students goes beyond the classroom, it’s about making sure families have the resources they need to succeed.

I was proud to attend The Valley Stream Hoopers Classic alongside Assemblymember Michaelle Solages, celebrating a great day of basketball, youth development, and community.

Founded by Shariff Harris through Hoop Valley Stream, The Hoopers Classic brought together young athletes, families, and dedicated volunteers for a free community basketball event focused on creating positive opportunities for our youth.

I was honored to present Hoop Valley Stream with a citation recognizing their commitment to youth development and community engagement, and to donate brand-new backpacks to help local students head into the new school year prepared for success.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Office Hours and Backpack Giveaway! It was a pleasure meeting with members of our community, answering questions, and helping connect residents with the resources they need.

I’m especially happy we could help local kids get excited for the new school year with a new backpack and school supplies. Bringing government directly to the community and making sure our residents know that their government is here for them is one of my top priorities.

A special thank you to the Lynbrook Public Library for welcoming us and allowing us to host this event. I look forward to continuing to bring resources and services directly to the communities I represent.
