Voters elected Elaine Phillips to be the first woman to serve as Nassau County Comptroller in November of 2021. A former New York State Senator and the first woman Mayor of The Village of Flower Hill, Comptroller Phillips is a trailblazer with a long and successful career in finance and public service. She leads a

team of more than 60 dedicated CSEA professionals who are responsible for ensuring that Nassau County, which has a budget of over $3.5 billion and approximately 11,000 employees, operates efficiently, ethically and transparently. With over 1.4 million residents Nassau County is larger in population than 10 states. The Office of the Nassau County Comptroller is responsible for conducting audits of government operations, monitoring and issuing reports on matters that significantly affect the County’s financial health and operations, auditing and approving all claims paid to vendors and the County payroll and overseeing the distribution of health benefits. Comptroller Phillips and her staff are committed to ensuring that every hard-earned tax dollar the County receives is spent properly. It is her goal is to renew the faith and trust that residents and businesses deserve to have in Nassau County government.
