So grateful to Douglas County, Nevada for recognizing September as Su***de Prevention Month and for recognizing the work of Su***de Prevention Network. 💜

And a huge thank you to our community for continuing to support us, show up, have these conversations, and help spread the message that no one has to struggle alone. We are so grateful to be part of such a supportive community. 😊

The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners recognizes September 2026 as Su***de Prevention Month, raising awareness of su***de as a serious public health issue while promoting prevention, education, reducing stigma, and fostering hope and connection throughout our community.

In 2024, su***de claimed 48,824 lives nationwide. In Nevada, 676 lives were lost, with an age-adjusted rate of 19.61 deaths per 100,000 residents—significantly higher than the national rate of approximately 13.7 per 100,000.

Douglas County commends the Su***de Prevention Network, a Minden-based nonprofit established in 1999, for its continued work providing prevention education, intervention, support groups, outreach, referrals, and resources to individuals and families throughout our community.

We encourage residents to recognize warning signs, have compassionate conversations, reduce stigma, and connect those who are struggling with resources such as the Su***de Prevention Network, 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, and local behavioral health programs.

Together, we can help ensure that those who are struggling know they are not alone—and that support and hope are available.

🩵September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month 💜

This is such an important month to all of us at SPN, and we have a lot planned throughout September to bring our community together, spread awareness, and remind people that support is always available.

Our theme this September is STAY. Tomorrow Needs You. 💜

Anyone who attends one of our groups or special events this month will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win our September raffle basket! We filled it with goodies from SPN, The Happiness Project, and Carson Valley Swim Center. 🎟️
