🚨 Community Alert – Please Check Your Vehicles 🚨

The Minden Police Department is currently investigating a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the neighborhoods surrounding J.L. Jones Elementary School on the evening of Nov. 8th and into the early morning of Nov. 9th.

During the investigation, officers recovered a set of keys believed to have been taken from one of the affected vehicles. At this time, we have not been able to identify the owner.

We are asking residents in the area to check your vehicles to ensure nothing is missing—especially your keys. If you discover you are missing a set, or if you have any information that may help, please contact the Minden Police Department at 318-371-4226.

Also, if you have any photos or camera footage to share, please share using the link below:

As a reminder, please remove valuables from your vehicle and lock your doors each night. Taking these simple steps can help deter criminal activity and protect your property

🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT: Non-Operational Traffic Lights 🚨

Due to the recent storms, the Minden Police Department reminds all drivers to exercise caution when approaching an intersection where a traffic signal is flashing, malfunctioning, or completely out of service.

What to do:
1. Treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
2. Come to a complete stop at the limit line or crosswalk.
3. Yield the right-of-way to vehicles already in the intersection.
4. When two vehicles arrive at the same time, the driver on the right goes first.
5. Pedestrians have the right-of-way—stop and allow them to cross safely.
6. Be alert and patient. Expect delays and allow extra time for travel.
7. Do not assume others will stop. Drive defensively and proceed only when it is safe.

Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe until repairs are made.

Minden PD Chosen as Grant Recipient:

Thanks to a generous grant from Claiborne Electric through Operation Round Up, the Minden Police Department is able to purchase 10 new ballistic vests for our patrol officers! These vests will replace outdated and expired gear, ensuring our officers have the protection they need while serving our community.

Ballistic vests have saved countless lives over the past 30 years, and this grant plays a crucial role in keeping our officers safe on the job. We are incredibly grateful for this support!

🚨 FACT CHECK: No Reported Poisoning by a Delivery Driver in Minden 🚨

We've seen a viral post circulating about an individual being poisoned by a DoorDash driver. As of now, there have been no reported incidents of this happening in Minden or the surrounding areas. While this incident may have occurred elsewhere, there is no local confirmation via any local law enforcement or medical sources.

We encourage everyone to stay informed and verify sources before sharing alarming posts. If you ever feel unsafe about a delivery, report it immediately to authorities and the delivery service. Stay safe and aware! While this post MAY be authentic, the incident did not occur here. It is a more and more common tactic among phishers, scammers, and alarmists to prey on a person's emotions to spread false narratives to harm or alarm the community or local businesses.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️

The Minden Police Department has been made aware of a telephone-based scam targeting local citizens within the last few hours. Scammers are posing as MPD officers, claiming that the recipient has a payment due by the 27th.

These calls appear to come from an official MPD phone number, but the scammers are using spoofing technology to disguise their true identity.

Please remember:

1. MPD officers will never ask anyone to bring large sums of money, especially to any location other than the Minden Police Department.

2. While we may contact suspects or victims during investigations, we will never demand payment in lieu of arrest.

3. If a fine or fee is owed, the payment must be made in person at the Minden Police Department or via its official online portal.

4. It is not customary to contact anyone prior to any fines being "due".

If you believe you are receiving a fraudulent call, hang up and call the Police Department directly at 318-377-1212. The personnel there should be able to re-route you back to the person who called you. If one of these calls is found to be a fraudster, report it immediately to the Police Department. Stay vigilant and share this information to help protect others in our community.
