Celebrate International Day of Forests with Sandy's Bee City USA Action Group and the River Basin Council!

Dakota from the Clackamas River Basin Council will be leading a guided hike through Tickle Creek Trail on Sunday, March 23rd from 10:00am-12:00pm. She will be speaking about the different plants we commonly see in our area, their role on our ecosystem (like water quality!), and how they interact with pollinators and other insects.

Scan the QR code on the poster or call (503) 668 5569 to register.

The International Day of Forests, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012, is a day to celebrate and raise awareness about the critical role forests play in our world. Forests are essential for supporting our agriculture and ecosystems by providing homes for pollinators, maintaining healthy soils, retaining water, and regulating temperatures.

Join us and Local Author Fern Wexler to celebrate their debut picture book, Families of a Feather.

Discover the diverse family lives of a variety of bird species and the many different ways they work together to care for their young in this gorgeous book that celebrates diversity and inclusion.

Did you know:

🪶 Emu fathers and Ruby-Throated Hummingbird mothers raise their chicks all by themselves.
🪶Laysan albatross chicks can have two moms who take turns sitting on their eggs.
🪶Acorn Woodpeckers raise babies in huge family groups with many moms, dads, and siblings helping out.
🪶Black Swans can grow up with two dads.

Families of a Feather illustrates the diverse nature of family structures with a message of love and acceptance that no matter what a family looks like they express their love for each other, and everyone deserves to be loved.

Books will be available for purchase and signing!

Dream Big is a simple invitation for the Portland and Pacific Northwest LGBTQIA2S+ community to see a future with no limits. This aligns with the Portland community being a hub of activism, celebration of artistic expression, and identity. We want people to pursue their dreams unapologetically and utilize the PRIDE CELEBRATION as the engine to kickstart an idea or cross the finish line on a community goal. A strong underscore of this theme is the need for solidarity, collaboration, and the idea that big dreams can lead to a significant societal change.
