All incoming kindergarteners (and their families) are invited to our first ever Kindergarten Carnival on Saturday, August 29 from 10am-noon. We'll have a scavenger hunt, craft, games, and free books! Plus, keep an eye out for a special appearance from Milwaukie mascot Millie the Goose.

As Oregon students and families prepare for a new school year, we're remembering Dolly Parton and the remarkable legacy she leaves behind.

Dolly was a champion of literacy, and through her Imagination Library, thousands of Oregon children can receive a free book every month from birth to age five. Her support helps children develop a love of reading long before their first day of school.

Thank you, Dolly, for the lasting impact you've had on generations of young readers.

Ledding Library will be closed on Wednesday, August 26 for staff training.

We'll be back to regular hours on Thursday, with one final summer storytime at 10:30 am.

The End of Summer Teen Lock-In is almost here! Anyone going into grades 6-12 can join us after-hours for video games, Karaoke, crafts, a scavenger hunt & more, with pizza provided by the library. Check in between 6:30 – 7pm. Pick-up between 8:45 – 9pm.

A.I.D is a practical, skills-based workshop designed to help participants recognize signs of mental health distress and respond in a supportive, confident, and effective way. People often ask us what they can do to support the Milwaukie Ledding Library, and the honest answer is: the very best way to champion our library is to support our Friends Group! They truly make so much of our work possible.

The Friends is a separate 501c3 organization, and this year they pledged more than $47,000 dollars in support of the library. Their funding allows us to offer programs like Summer Reading, Performers in the Park, the Fall Author Series and much, much more, and leaves tax-supported dollars to support core services like books and technology.

The Friends will be vacating their current storage space at the end of 2026 and are urgently looking for a new space for sorting and storing donated items for their regular book sales, ideally 800-1000 sq ft, either rent-free or for a nominal rent amount.
