“Am I dreaming?” That was Pam's first reaction when she opened her door and saw her grandson standing there.

Marquis Forest Grove resident Pam shared how much she missed visiting the Oregon coast with her family. Those trips had always brought her joy, and she wasn't sure she'd get to experience them again… but her care team was determined.

Together with her grandson, they planned a special day at Cannon Beach: one that would reconnect Pam with a place she loves and the memories that make it meaningful. 🐚🏖️☀️

With the ocean breeze on her face and her grandson by her side, Pam spent the day digging her hands into the cool sand, watching dogs race along the shore, and spotting pelicans overhead. Later, they shared clam chowder at Mo's, taking in the waves and looking forward to future trips together. 🌊✨

A cart full of yarn, and a day filled with endless possibility. 🧶🛒

Knitting has always been Judy’s source of comfort. Even while facing health issues, she continued crafting: two quilts, 500 caps, 40 scarves, and 600 washcloths, many gifted to her community.

But her love of crafting came with limits. Finances often shaped what she could create, leaving her dependent on donated materials or supplies from her daughter. So when it came time to plan her , the Marquis Newberg team knew exactly where she needed to go: Hobby Lobby

What followed was more than a shopping trip. Judy moved through aisles of color in awe, running her hands over skeins of yarn and sharing her knowledge with the team beside her.

She left with a full cart, a full heart, and a moment she won’t forget: “If I have to go, I want to be surrounded by yarn.”

There were a few familiar faces on the 2026 Journey of Heroes trip!

Last month, seven Marquis staff joined 16 senior veterans in Washington D.C. as volunteer companions. Over four days, they toured the National Mall, swapped stories, shared plenty of laughs, and took time to honor a lifetime of service. 🇺🇸✈

“Watching Jimmy light up in the arena was like seeing someone step right back into their happiest memory.” 🏀✨

Decades had passed since Jimmy, a lifelong Portland Trail Blazers fan, last experienced the energy of a game at the Moda Center at the Rose Quarter. He spent years cheering on the Blazers and celebrating his favorite player, Clyde “The Glide” Drexler. Now, he loves swapping basketball stories with friends at Marquis Piedmont.

Wanting to bring those memories back to life, Jimmy’s care team planned a New Chapter experience for him: attending the Trail Blazers’ final home game of the season against the Lakers. On game night, Jimmy stepped into the arena wide-eyed with excitement. He settled into his ADA seat, popcorn in hand, while the roar of the crowd filled the arena. 🍿🧡

During halftime, the Piedmont team surprised Jimmy with a custom Trail Blazers jersey featuring his name and the number 22 in honor of Drexler. And when the final buzzer sounded, Jimmy surprised everyone by asking to stay a little longer, quietly whispering, “Just like old times.”

Welcome to “Let Your Imagination Run Wild,” an art show by Carol! 🎨💐 She’s been an artist her whole life. When she moved into Marquis Wilsonville, she found joy in sharing her creativity with other residents, staff, and loved ones.

But today was something bigger: with the support of her care team, Carol curated her own art show, transforming the library into a gallery of vibrant creations. 10 of her close friends and family gathered around, asking questions, admiring the collection, and celebrating Carol’s talent.

At the end of the evening, Carol beamed with pride. “Wow, I did it!” she said, reflecting on the joy of hosting her first-ever art show. Surrounded by loved ones and dear friends, Carol’s art show was a testament to the power of creativity and the joy of sharing one’s passion with the community. 🧡✨
