Harbor District Milwaukee

Harbor District Milwaukee Now, much of its land sits abandoned or in disrepair, its waterways are polluted – and its potential is immense.

The Harbor District has been at the center of our region’s prosperity for hundreds of years – first as a rice marsh with plentiful fish and game, then as an economic hub that served industries throughout the state. The Harbor District Initiative brings together local, state, and federal government efforts, private sector interests, and community enthusiasm to achieve a world-class revitalization of this area for the benefit of the City and the Region. Our goal is to reinforce existing businesses and neighborhoods and set a new standard for how waterfronts “work” environmentally, economically, and socially. Over the next 18-24 months, the Harbor District Initiative will conduct a planning process to engage a broad array of stakeholders in crafting a vision for the area, and begin to build momentum and marshal resources to implement the vision.

Join Light the Hoan at Your Office: Where MKE Clocks Out for their Wage Gap Happy hour tonight from 4-8 PM.

For a few hours, men pay 30% more, and every boosted dollar (plus 100% of the tips) supports Light the Hoan’s new Code Light the Hoanam, teaching Milwaukee students to program and choreograph the Hoan Bridge lights.

(And yes, it’s all in good fun. The upcharge is totally optional, and everyone’s welcome to join in however they choose.)

See you there!
