It's nearly the weekend, friends, and it will likely be another busy one for the Patrol Division and Parks Unit, so let's offer them a little of encouragement in the form of a shoutout for a job well done last week in recovering several illicit fi****ms at three Milwaukee County parks and arresting the people in possession of them.

At Sherman Park, a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office detective in an unmarked squad observed an armed juvenile. Responding deputies conducted a traffic stop and recovered the firearm. Minutes later, while that incident was still being investigated, our Parks Unit was alerted to citizen reports of armed juveniles at Lincoln Park. The same alert detective moved to Lincoln Park and, with the help of our Drone Unit, located and safely detained two armed juveniles who had fi****ms equipped with switches, which, for the uninitiated, illegally modify and convert semi-automatic handguns to fully automatic machine guns. Finally, Parks Unit deputies, in Cupertino Park to follow up on citizen reports about rowdy after-hours gatherings, recovered an illicit AR-15 rifle from a 20-year-old man.

is responsible for patrolling more than 150 miles of freeway system and major roadways in Milwaukee County--the only sheriff's office in Wisconsin, by the way, to bear that responsibility solely. Over the past two years, our deputy sheriffs have investigated 153 reckless driving incidents.

This new county legislation means that if you're busted driving recklessly, regardless of whether you own the vehicle or are borrowing it, you will be cited, and that vehicle will be towed and impounded.

Happy Friday! This is a great reminder to never remove or ignore "road closed" signs!

FEELING STUCK: A motorist in Milwaukee County recently cemented their inability to adhere to signs after physically removing a “road closed” barrier and proceeding to drive into freshly poured concrete at the I-41/894/US 45 and National Avenue interchange.

Crews place barricades and signs for your safety and theirs. Please – never remove or ignore “road closed” or any other types of barriers… or this might happen to you!
