🇺🇸 2026 Liberty Bash hosted by the Pritzker Military Museum & Library, Dryhootch was proud to be represented by three generations of leadership dedicated to serving veterans and their families.

Pictured are:

🔹 Robert “Bob” Curry – Founder of Dryhootch and Vietnam Veteran
🔹 Otis Winstead – President & CEO of Dryhootch and Vietnam Era Veteran
🔹 Levi Marker – Executive Director of Dryhootch and Afghanistan Veteran

The evening celebrated the spirit of the Citizen Soldier and honored individuals and organizations whose service continues long after they leave the battlefield.

What started as one veteran helping another has grown into a movement that continues to impact lives across Wisconsin and beyond. Seeing our founder, current CEO, and executive director together tonight is a powerful reminder that Dryhootch’s mission remains strong: Veterans Helping Veterans.

From Vietnam to Afghanistan, the commitment to service continues. The leadership represented in this photo spans generations of military service and reflects Dryhootch’s ongoing mission to ensure no veteran has to walk their journey home alone.

Thank you to the Pritzker Military Museum & Library for hosting an incredible evening dedicated to preserving military history, honoring service, and inspiring future generations.

Staff Sergeant Daniel “Rambusch” Busch on a warthog hunt during the Task Force Ranger deployment to Somalia, 1993. Wisconsin kid, Portage Senior High class of 1986, enlisted out of high school. Bravo Company, 3rd Ranger Battalion first. Veteran of Operation Just Cause in Panama. Selected into the Unit and serving as a Delta sniper by Mogadishu.

On 3 October 1993, he was aboard Super 61, the first MH-60 Black Hawk shot down over Mogadishu. Both pilots were killed in the crash. Busch and fellow Delta sniper SGT Jim Smith survived and immediately began defending the wreck against a numerically superior Somali force closing on the site. Star 41, an MH-6 Little Bird flown by CW3 Karl Maier and CW5 Keith Jones, landed nearby. Jones carried Busch to the helicopter while Maier provided cover fire from the cockpit, refusing orders to lift off until his co-pilot was back aboard.

Busch took rounds to the legs, torso, and shoulder defending the crash site. He made it as far as a military hospital in Germany before he died of his wounds. He was 25. Silver Star and Purple Heart, posthumous.
