We opened a space for belonging. For safety. For healing. For community.

When we said “hope requires somewhere to live,” we meant it. Hope now lives here, in these walls, in these rooms, in the people who walk through our doors every day.

We also hold space for those experiencing Mother’s Day without their mom, whether through loss, distance, estrangement, or complicated relationships. This day can bring many emotions, and you are not alone.

🌈 2026 Annual Meeting Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center’s 2026 Annual Meeting. It was an evening grounded in connection, transparency, and a shared commitment to building a stronger future for our community.

We reflected on a year of meaningful impact. In 2025, thousands of individuals engaged with the Center through programs supporting youth, older adults, mental health, and community connection. From over 5,200 young people accessing affirming spaces to hundreds receiving counseling, advocacy, and essential resources, the work continues to meet critical needs across Greater Milwaukee.

We also shared a transparent look at our financial position and the intentional steps we’ve taken toward sustainability. Our relocation to a right-sized space has significantly reduced costs and allows us to remain focused on delivering high-quality programs and services while strengthening long-term stability.
A highlight of the evening was our interactive breakout sessions.

Community members engaged in thoughtful conversations around envisioning a future LGBTQ+ Center, strengthening collaboration, and advancing equity and access. The feedback was clear: our community is seeking spaces rooted in belonging, stronger partnerships, and expanded access to inclusive, affirming services.

We were proud to recognize this year’s award recipients:

Recap👉AN AFTERPARTY OF PRIDE, POWER & PRESENCE ✨

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center was honored to be the proud beneficiary of the Champions Retreat 2026 Afterparty in April. An unforgettable celebration of culture, creativity, and unapologetic self-expression.

Hosted at Lakefront Brewery by B Proud (B Lab U.S. & Canada’s 2SLGBTQIA+ Affinity Network), the B Together Party brought Milwaukee’s House and Ballroom community center stage for a night full of energy, artistry, and joy.

☝️What Is Ballroom?
Ballroom is a vibrant cultural community rooted in Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ history, where chosen families known as “houses” compete and perform in expressive categories celebrating identity, fashion, dance, talent, and presence. Ballroom has long been a space of liberation, creativity, and community.

🫅Hair flew across the floor. Nails were lost. Kicks, twists, spins, dips, and twirls had the audience cheering all night long.

And in just under two hours, the community came together to raise an incredible:

to support the vital direct services of the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center.

We extend our deepest gratitude to B Proud, every performer, house member, organizer, and guest who made this night truly remarkable.

This was more than an afterparty, it was a celebration of pride, power, presence, and community. ✨

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center will officially celebrate the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of our new home at 161 South 1st Street.

This milestone represents more than a relocation. It reflects who we are today — Resilient. Recalibrated. Rising.

Join us from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM as we welcome community members, partners, and distinguished leaders from across state, county, and city government to mark this historic moment.

Together, we are building health, safety, and belonging for LGBTQ+ people across Southeastern Wisconsin — with sustainability and long-term strength at the center of our future.
