King Drive Is

King Drive Is Our mission is to grow our community by supporting businesses, organizations, and all who live and work in the greater King Drive area.

Since our inception in 1992, the BID’s mission has been to improve the King Drive District by fostering a culture that enjoys a trendy and authentic retail experience while attracting businesses who embrace the commitment to hard work and strong character that the area was founded on. And so far, expectations have been exceeded. In the past 15 years there has been over $200 million of new development in the BID.

It’s Tap‑In Tuesday featuring some BID favorites. Our intern spent the morning shadowing her uncle, (Joah Tucker), as he made his rounds through the District.

Joah showed Zoe what it’s like to be a board member, business owner, and entrepreneur. From checking his mail to visiting his properties, including Lounge, to watching him juggle multiple responsibilities, she got a firsthand look at what strong BID leadership looks like.

✂️ Wellness Wednesday on King Drive

We stopped back into Black & White Barbershop on Historic King Drive, a space where the clippers stay buzzing, the conversations stay honest, and community feels like family.

We got to chat with one of the barbers about what keeps people coming back, and he said it best:

“A fresh cut can change your whole energy.”
And he’s right — studies show that regular grooming is linked to improved mood, confidence, and emotional well‑being. Sometimes a haircut is more than maintenance. It’s a reset. A moment to breathe. Thanks for chatting with us Crispy Nate💈

SPRING CLEANING ON KING DRIVE 🌱✨
Keeping King Drive beautiful is a team effort. To keep our district clean, everyone needs to chip in. A little bit of care from each of us goes a long way. 💚
That means:
* Picking up litter when you see it 🧤
* Keeping storefronts tidy 🧽
* Encouraging neighbors to do the same 🤝
* Reporting issues that need attention 📲

If you’re a business owner, resident, or community partner who wants to get involved, you can complete a request on our website to let us know what you’re seeing and how we can help keep the corridor shining.

Submit a request : Connect — Business Improvement District

Together, we keep King Drive strong. 💪🏾✨

Thanks Zoe for helping info to help us continue to promote Pride and Promise throughout the District.

It’s Tap In Tuesday on King Drive and today we’re shining a light on the power of literacy to strengthen families, fuel confidence, and open doors across our community.

Our intern Zoe ( ) brought her friend to explore & “ Tap In”. They spent time learning about the transformative work happening at Literacy Services of Wisconsin 📖📚. From adult reading and writing support to English language learning and high‑school equivalency programs, their team is helping Milwaukee residents build skills that shape everyday life. That’s the kind of impact that lifts our entire corridor.

As we continue partnering with our youth and investing in community growth, we’re grounded in a simple truth:
“Reading is for everyone.” 📚
