Raptor Saturday 🪽
June 6 | 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Learn what it takes to become a raptor trainer! During this special hour-long program, we will explore careers in wildlife management, what goes into the care of our resident birds, and how we meticulously train each one to be a confident ambassador for their species. Join us for this fun dive into training techniques, with live demonstrations from our amazing raptor co-workers! This program is free with membership or admission thanks to support from the We Energies Foundation, no registration required.

Scheduled to appear: Nicco (Broad-winged Hawk), Otis (Peregrine Falcon), Sky Walker (Red-tailed Hawk), Gimli (Eastern Screech Owl), and Loki (American Crow).

Nature School students increase their phenological awareness and foster a sense of wonder and curiosity through nature journaling! 📒 🖍️ After completing their observational drawing, they describe their work to a teacher, who records their words for them. Nature journals not only improve fine motor, observational, and early literacy skills, they’re also a priceless record of a student’s year at Nature School.

Field Illustration for Birders🪽✏️
Saturday, June 20 | 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Learn to draw nature's winged wonders! We'll warm up by drawing one of Schlitz Audubon's American Kestrel ambassadors on the Veranda. Then we'll hit the trails to do guided sketching exercises while observing the birds, plants, landscapes, and other wildlife all around us. This program will help build your confidence in visual journaling as you capture posture, movement, field marks, and environmental context in real time. No prior drawing experience needed!
