A FATHER'S DAY TREAT: For Father's Day, all inpatient Veterans at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center are getting a special treat, prepared here by Nutrition and Food Service Lead Cook Matt Rooney (a Veteran and a father): a pretzel Jell-O dessert. This yummy treat starts with a pretzel crust, followed by a layer of creamy mascarpone cheese and whipped cream, topped with a strawberry Jell-O - with diced strawberries inside. Happy Father's Day to all the dads!

Juneteenth National Independence Day marks the end to slavery in the United States. Most importantly, it represents victory over the institution of slavery and the beginning of the fulfillment of America’s promise of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all Americans.

Zablocki VA Health Care System ambulatory clinics, surgery, administration and outpatient clinics are closed on this federal holiday. The Milwaukee VA Medical Center’s Emergency Department remains available 24/7.

📣📣Veterans - have you heard? In January 2027, the Milwaukee VA Medical Center will transition to the new Federal Electronic Health Record.

This new system will make it easier for Veterans to transition from military to VA care while spending less time at each appointment repeating your health history and undergoing repeat tests, imaging, or exams. It'll also help VA deliver a more consistent experience at any VA facility.

We're hard at work behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition for Veterans in January, and in line with our baseball theme for this effort, we know that together we can knock it out of the park!

Milwaukee VA and its associated clinics will transition to a new electronic health record (EHR), called the Federal EHR, in January 2027. TEENS HELP HOMELESS VETS: Big thanks go out to Rehaan Muqeet, second from right, and Aryav Agarwal, right, two Brookfield teens who staged a charity pickleball tournament to benefit homeless Veterans served by the Milwaukee VA. Rehaan said he was inspired to action after meeting a homeless Veteran during a trip to New Orleans. “It hit me that he had given so much for our country, but he was on the street,” he said. So he and Aryav organized the fundraising pickleball event, which took place May 23-24 in Krueger Park in Brookfield. Entry fee was $20, but participants could give more if they desired, which many did, Rehaan said. On June 16, Rehaan and Aryav presented the proceeds — $1,710 — to Homeless Prevention Programs Manager Amy Mauel, second from left, and Chief of Center for Development and Civic Engagement Jessica Serdynski, left. Rehaan is also president of Students Serving Veterans, a club dedicated to supporting Veterans, and is mentored by Dr. Ken Lee, head of the Milwaukee VA’s Spinal Cord Injury and Disorder Center.
