I am deeply honored and grateful to the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County for this recognition as Rising Star at the 2026 Annual Gala.

When I ran for office, it was never just about holding a title. It was about becoming a voice, a voice that uplifts our community, that understands our struggles, and that carries our stories into rooms where decisions are made.

Serving as State Representative for the vibrant and culturally rich Assembly District 9, representing the southwest side of Milwaukee and West Milwaukee, is one of the greatest privileges of my life. This district is filled with hardworking families, small business owners, dreamers, fighters, and generations of resilience. I see you. I hear you. And I am here because of you.

I have always believed that leadership means being accessible. It means that my constituents can walk up to me, call me, message me, and confide in me their concerns knowing they will be met with respect, understanding, and action.

This recognition is not mine alone. It belongs to our community. It belongs to every person who believed in me, a mother, a business owner and a survivor who simply wants to serve.

Thank you to the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County for this incredible honor. I remain committed to doing the work with heart, with courage, and always with our community at the center.

Almost One Year Since Inauguration — And We’re Just Getting Started

Over a year ago, you trusted me with your vote and your voice. Since then, I’ve gone to work every single day for the people of District 9 and our entire South Side community.

Together, we’ve:

✅ Opened a district office so residents always have direct access to their Representative
✅ Fought for our families, small businesses, workers, and entrepreneurs
✅ Brought resources and state support back to our district
✅ Founded the Wisconsin Hispanic Legislative Caucus with Rep. Angelina Cruz, Rep. Vincent Miresse, and Rep. Amaad Rivera-Wagner to make sure Latino voices are represented at the Capitol
✅ We brought the Latino culture to the Wisconsin State Capitol by inaugurating the first Hispanic Heritage Month at the Wisconsin State Capitol!!
✅ Shown up at schools, neighborhood events, business openings, town halls, and community meetings
✅ Made government more accessible for immigrant families and working people
✅ Never stopped putting District 9 first!!! ALWAYS!!

This work isn’t about politics — it’s about people. And I’m just getting started.

I am beyond grateful to the incredible community that believed in me and supported me throughout this journey. Winning the Wisconsin State Assembly seat for District 9 is not just a personal achievement but a victory for all of us who believe in a better future for our district. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you—my family, friends, volunteers, and supporters—who dedicated time, energy, and passion to this campaign. Your faith in me and in our shared vision has made this possible.

A special thank you to my longtime friend and mentor, Israel Ramon, who saw the potential in me and thought of me for this position. I am also deeply grateful to Representative Sylvia Ortíz-Velez for her guidance and unwavering support. Their belief in my leadership and their encouragement have been invaluable throughout this journey.

Our Latino community will continue to have my unwavering support and advocacy, and I look forward to uplifting our voices and addressing the issues that matter most to us. Together, we will work tirelessly to make real progress for our community, championing the needs and values that matter most to us all. Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility. I am honored to serve District 9 and committed to making a positive impact for every one of you.
