Community First MKE

Community First MKE Community First changes lives by providing FREE home repairs for low and moderate income families! It is administered as a five year forgivable loan.

Community First (CF) offers vital services to the neighborhoods that it serves by managing the rehabilitation projects to ensure that families are provided professional, insured, licensed and timely contractor services. Our primary funding is from City of Milwaukee block grants through NIP (Neighborhood Improvement Program) allowing these services to be provided at no cost to the family. There are

very few home repair resources in Milwaukee that provide substantial repairs such as roofing, mechanical work, lead abatement and other costly home repairs. This makes CF well positioned to provide such life altering services for its clients.

When a community comes together, they are unstopable.

Last week, CDA Deputy Director Frank Martinez joined regional leaders at the β€œInvest Forward: Funding Tools for Community Development” workshop hosted by Hope Community Capital at the Urban Ecology Center.

During the panel, Frank shared updates on CDA’s Backbone Tax Incremental District financing tool supporting new homebuilding in Midtown and Harambee, along with a proposed TID to advance home construction in Amani. These tools are helping close financing gaps and accelerate equitable neighborhood investment.

We are proud to be part of conversations that move capital forward in service of community.
