Exciting News! Evolving Canvas II will be held November 6th, 2026 from 6pm to 9pm. This year, we are holding the event at Beyond Vision. They were kind enough to offer us space to hold the event. Evolving Canvas is an interactive "paint and sip," with a twist. As the evening progresses, we provide challenges that impact participants vision and hearing to give them a sense of the challenges our clients face each and every day. We will have food, drinks, and a silent auction. Our event last year helped us raise $6000 for the Center. Our plan is to grow this event each year. In the coming weeks we will announce information about tickets. We have already started seeking sponsors and items for our silent auction. Keep checking back for more information. In the meantime, you can contact Adrian at [email protected] for more information or if you have questions!

Many people don't realize that we not only work with clients at the Center, we go to people's homes for training. Here is a photo of staff working with Jo Ann on organizing her kitchen. Our staff can help clients with organizing their home in a way that is efficient and safe for them. Roughly 60% of the work we do is around the state in people's homes. If you have questions about our services, give us a call today. (414) 481-7477 or email Adrian at [email protected].

We aren't all business at the Center. While we take our training programs seriously, sometimes you gotta take a break. Last month, Dani enjoyed some sunshine and ice cream outside with Linda and Sam.

On May 8th, we held W.I.S.H. at the Center. The theme was Cinco de Mayo. Jennifer brought all the food for a delicious taco spread. She also brought tasty brownies. Howard donated virgin margarita mix. As mentioned, we had Kay from Mukwonago United Church of Christ come to donate a check to the Center. We also were thrilled to have Margaret and Terri from Deaf Seniors of Southwest Wisconsin at the Center to volunteer. Howard won the 50/50 raffle and generously donated the money back to the W.I.S.H. treasury. The week before, clients made a pinata in arts and leisure class. We used that for the main activity. W.I.S.H. participants took turns with the pinata and Sam was the winner! Thanks to all the volunteers and thanks to all who attended. Next month we are doing a boat ride for W.I.S.H. details coming soon!

At our May 8th W.I.S.H. event we were thrilled to have a special guest. Kay from Mukwonago United Church of Christ joined us. She came to present a very generous donation to the center on behalf of the congregation. Their church is closing their doors and their board voted to donate funds to the Center. We are grateful to them and would like to thank Kay for joining us! Here is a photo of Kay presenting Adrian with the check.

On May 2nd, Adrian our executive director travelled to Wisconsin Dells to take part in the WDBTAP Wisconsin Deafblind Technical Assistance Project Family Event. Adrian presented about technology and the iCC program, talked to teenage youth about services at the Center, and talked to the parents about programming once their youth reach adulthood. It was a great day and a wonderful chance for outreach. We look forward to working with these families as these young people reach adulthood. Thanks to Jolene and her team for having us! Thank you to Laurie from Helen Keller National Center for DeafBlind Youths and Adults for assisting with the technology presentation.
