𝟴𝟰 𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁!

Not years. Not someday. Just 84 days.

That's the average time it takes our learners at Joyce's Legacy Learning Center to earn their GED!

And behind that number are REAL people. Parents. Working adults. Dreamers. People who decided that no matter how long they'd been out of school, their story wasn't finished.

Some started with fear. Some started with doubt. But they started. And that decision changed everything.

Your age doesn't determine your future. Neither does how long you've been out of school.

It’s official!!

On December 9, 2026, we celebrate the adults who decided their story wasn’t finished.

The late nights. The retakes. The studying after work. The moments they wanted to quit. The courage it took to come back and keep going.

This is more than Graduation Day.
They finished the story.

Save the date. More details coming soon.

Families will create ornaments that will later be displayed on our selected tree at Community Spirit Park at Cathedral Square, continuing a tradition that celebrates creativity, family, and community.

This year’s event will also highlight the Milwaukee Public Library Makerspace at Park Library, giving families an opportunity to explore one of the creative resources available right here in our community.

Guests can also enjoy:

Happy National Cinnamon Bun Day!

A cinnamon bun might look like a sweet treat, but there’s a whole lot of math behind it.

Fractions. Measurements. Multiplication. Timing. Problem-solving.

Those same skills show up on the GED, and they can also show up in your future career.

You can go from GED learner to GED graduate to baker, culinary student, entrepreneur, or business owner. Just like Brandon.

Your GED is not just a test. It can be the first step toward what comes next.

Finish the Story.

“I used to think getting my GED was out of reach.”

Now D. Hatcher has earned her GED and is showing her daughter what’s possible.

Maybe you’ve had that same thought. Maybe life got busy, you struggled in school, or you’ve been putting everyone else first.

Your goal still matters. And you deserve the chance to finish.

At Joyce’s Legacy Learning Center, we’ll help you take the first step and support you as you work toward your GED.

Let her story inspire you to begin yours.

We’re shining in our rhinestones today for 9 to 5 Day and celebrating the power of books, literacy, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Today, we received a $120.00 contribution supporting children in ZIP codes 53206, 53208, and 53215, and we’re grateful for every dollar helping put books into little hands.

As a local nonprofit, we know firsthand how important community support is. We’re proud to help raise awareness and resources for the Imagination Library, while continuing to raise the support needed to sustain the education, literacy, and workforce programs we provide right here in Milwaukee.

So today, celebrate Dolly with us, support early literacy, and if you believe in the work Joyce’s Legacy is doing too, don’t forget about your local girls doing the work every day.
