A huge THANK YOU to the wonderful team from Milwaukee Public Library for joining our Carmen educators at our Southgate campus for professional development!

Our staff had the opportunity to explore valuable teaching tools, educational resources, and creative ways to support student learning.

And can we talk about all the FREE resources available to our students and families?! MPL staff shared a number of valuable resources that students and families can access from school, home, or the library!

📖 Libby, which offers thousands of eBooks and audiobooks!

💥 ComicsPlus for those who love comics, graphic novels, and manga!

🎬 Kanopy where students can explore an incredible collection of films, documentaries, and educational videos!

These are just a few of the many resources that make reading, creating, discovering, and learning more accessible (and FUN!) for our school community.

Learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends, and some of the best adventures begin with a library card! This is why the library will always be a magical place for our school community.

The school year is officially in full swing, and there’s already SO much to celebrate across Carmen. ❤️

From students putting our new science labs to good use 🔬 and showing out in volleyball, cross country and more 🏐🏃🏾‍♀️, to Senior Sunrise memories 🌅, STEM Night, family engagement events, and even welcoming local media to campus to celebrate one of our incredible educators 🎥✨ — these first few weeks have been FULL.

This is just a glimpse of what’s been happening across our campuses. We love this school community, and we’re thrilled to be off to such a great start.

Our Carmen South Middle School families came together today for a special Hispanic Heritage Month Potluck, and we loved celebrating the cultures and traditions represented throughout our school community!

Families brought favorite dishes to share and with each one, a little piece of their heritage, traditions and community stories. Families got a special treat when student musicians from Carmen High School Southgate stopped by to perform! We love these moments when our campuses connect for fun events!

There’s much more family fun ahead at Carmen South Middle School! Stay tuned for upcoming family engagement opportunities, middle school athletics schedules, and campus events throughout the school year.

Carmen students visited Marquette University for an inside look at careers in Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology.

During their visit to the Occupational Therapy program, students went beyond learning about the profession and gained hands-on experience. They explored techniques used by occupational therapists, including working with therapeutic wax and learning how custom splints can help address injuries and support recovery. Two of our student-athletes even experienced the process firsthand, receiving custom splints for minor volleyball-related injuries.

Experiences like these help our students connect their interests to real career possibilities while giving them an opportunity to explore the college programs and pathways that can help them get there. If you’d like to host our students for a career site visit at your organization, let’s connect!

Congratulations to Carmen Class of 2010 alumna and Brillantes co-owner, Brenda, on her recent feature in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel!

At Brillantes, she is helping create a future where every girl has the opportunity to play, learn, grow, connect, and achieve through soccer—building access and opportunity for the next generation of young women in Milwaukee.

Fall Athletics Media Day at Carmen Southgate!

Our student-athletes showed up with plenty of Phoenix Pride, supporting one another, cheering on teammates who were a little camera shy, and having a great time in front of the lens. This is community 💛
