✨ Learning Is Magic at SOHE! ✨

We’re so excited to partner with JCC Rainbow Camp again this year! Year after year, our students have enjoyed attending Rainbow Camp for day camps and overnight experiences, and this year, we’re bringing the fun and learning right to SOHE!

JCC Rainbow Camp recently visited our school to host a Learning Magic Show for our K4 and K5 scholars! The students had a wonderful time participating in an engaging experience that combined fun, curiosity, and learning.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there! Rainbow Camp will be visiting SOHE once a month to lead engaging activities connected to the topics our students are learning in the classroom.

We’re grateful for this partnership and can’t wait to see the creativity, discovery, and magical moments that the rest of the year will bring!

💚🧠 Your Mental Health Matters. 🧠💚

On October 10th, the world recognizes World Mental Health Day, a reminder of the importance of caring for our mental and emotional well-being—not only for our children, but for the adults who support, guide, and lead by example every day.

At SOHE, we’ll be having conversations about mental health and making resources available to help our students feel supported, informed, and empowered.

Some of the resources available will include:
✨ Inspirational stickers
🧠 Sensory stickers
🎨 Mindful coloring pages
đź“„ Information sheets about common mental health concerns, including anxiety and depression, geared toward preteens and teens
đź“ť Infographics, journal sheets, and other helpful resources

Taking care of yourself is important. Make time to pause, check in with yourself, talk to someone you trust, and remember that asking for support is a strength.

🍂 Fall Is in Full Swing at SOHE! 🍂

The leaves are changing, pumpkin spice is filling the air, and the temperatures are getting a little chillier! That means it’s time to check out everything happening at SOHE this October!

Here are some important dates to remember:

🍩 October 16 — Donuts with Grownups
Our K4–3rd grade families are invited into the cafeteria to enjoy breakfast with their student! Come see their friends, chat with teachers, and connect with other SOHE families. We can’t wait to see you there!

🎂 October 19 — October Birthday Celebration
If your child has an October birthday, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to join them during lunch, take pictures, and celebrate with their classmates! Students celebrating will also receive special prizes. Keep an eye out for Mrs. Bailey’s ParentSquare update with more details!

🍎 October 20 & 22 — Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conferences will be held from 3:30–7:30 PM. And don’t forget to stop by the PTO Bake Sale while you’re here! Bring cash!

🚫 October 23 & 26 — No School
Enjoy the long weekend with your families!

📸 October 29 — Picture Retake Day
If your student was absent on Picture Day, this is their opportunity to get their school picture taken!

Celebrating Our Zearn Scholars! 🎉

Photographed are some of our amazing 6th graders who have completed Zearn Missions!

Zearn is our math intervention program designed to meet students where they are and give them the opportunity to work through lessons at a pace that supports their learning and growth. Students typically complete a minimum of three lessons each week, and once they complete all the lessons in a module, they earn a certificate for completing their mission!

These scholars are just a few of the students doing an incredible job staying on task, working hard, and making great progress in math!

PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization, and last year we learned so much, shared so many ideas, and—most importantly—turned those ideas into reality!

This year, we need YOU! We’re looking for parents, guardians, and family members who are willing to join us, share your opinions, bring new ideas, and help make SOHE an even stronger community.

🎉 Birthday Celebrations Look a Little Different at SOHE This Year! 🎉

We’re excited to celebrate our SOHE scholars in a special new way! Last Monday, September 21st, families joined us to celebrate students with August and September birthdays. Some families brought lunch to enjoy together, while students received pictures, special stickers, and recognition to make their day extra special!

Going forward, on the last Monday of each month, we’ll celebrate students who have birthdays during that month! Every student celebrating a birthday will receive a special sticker and treat during lunch.

We’re also excited to invite **parents/guardians to join their child for lunch** on their birthday celebration day! Families will receive a reminder and lunch schedule before each celebration with additional details.

A few important notes:
🎂 July birthdays will be celebrated in June.
💙 If your family does not celebrate birthdays, please message Mrs. Bailey so we can honor and respect your family’s decision.

We look forward to celebrating our SOHE students and making their birthdays feel extra special!

⚽️💙 SOHE Soccer is in Full Swing! 💙⚽️

Our 3rd and 4th graders have been hard at work every day learning, writing, practicing their skills, and preparing for their first soccer games!

Last Friday, our SOHE scholars took the field for two games, and it was so beautiful to see our families come out to cheer them on and show their support!

Games will be held on Fridays at Burnham Park, just a short walk from school. We can’t wait to see more soccer action, teamwork, and SOHE pride from our scholars!

Great job, SOHE soccer stars! Keep working hard and having fun!

All across our grade levels, SOHE students are hard at work building their literacy skills through Lexia!

We’re loving seeing so many students reach their goals and earn certificates along the way. Some certificates are proudly going home, while others are finding a special spot right on students’ lockers!

Keep up the great work, SOHE scholars! We are so proud of your hard work and dedication!
