Thanks to Pieper Electric, Inc. for joining us for two days of Fire Prevention Week! Crews canvased north and south side neighborhoods of Milwaukee, checking for and installing working smoke alarms.

Pieper Electric and the Pieper Power Community Foundation have been valued partners of the Milwaukee Fire Department for years. Their generous support, including a grant that helped fund the Milwaukee Survive Alive Mobile Unit, strengthens our efforts to promote fire safety across the city.

Thank you to the many Pieper Electric volunteers who have helped bring fire-safety education and resources to Milwaukee residents over the years!

If you are a City of Milwaukee resident in need of a working smoke alarm, you can call our Smoke Alarm Hotline at (414) 286-8980. Fire department personnel will install one, free of charge.

Milwaukee, we need your help! Our donation boxes are waiting to be filled with essentials for mothers and babies who need them most, and we're asking our community to give back by donating essentials for single mothers and their babies in partnership with HOPE Network.

The drive has been extended to October 31st so if you're out doing your weekly shopping, consider grabbing some extra items from our list below and dropping your donation off at one of Milwaukee's firehouses.

• Diapers
• Baby wipes
• Baby shampoo & lotion
• Baby clothing
• Other essential baby items

🍼HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Drop off new, unopened baby essentials at any Milwaukee Fire Department station throughout October 31st. You can find a list of MFD firehouse locations included in this post.

Your donations will help HOPE Network provide these much-needed essentials and a little relief to single mothers in our community who are working hard to provide for their families.

Join us for a spooktacular Haunted Academy on Friday, October 30, from 5:30–9:00 PM at 6680 N. Teutonia Ave.

The Milwaukee Fire Department hosted it's 30th Annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Ceremony during Fire Prevention Week.

The tradition honors the brave men and women of the Milwaukee Fire Department who died in the line of duty serving the citizens of Milwaukee.

Behind each name is a life, a family, and a legacy of service that continues to shape this department. Thank you to those who joined us in remembrance of our fallen.

For Fire Prevention Week, we teamed up with Domino's Pizza on Forest Home Avenue in Milwaukee to deliver FREE pizza to residents with working smoke alarms, or to those who allow us in to check or install one.

If you are a City of Milwaukee resident who needs a smoke alarm, call the Smoke Alarm Hotline at (414) 286-8980. Milwaukee firefighters will install one in your home, free!

This morning, we kicked off Fire Prevention Week at Milwaukee’s Survive Alive House by welcoming students from Clement J. Zablocki School!

Mrs. Yvonne Teddy and her second-graders also joined in on teaching the media about fire prevention, sharing their own speeches and posters reflecting this year’s theme: “Charge Into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower”.

Partially funded by the Foundation for the Milwaukee Fire Education Center and jointly managed by the Milwaukee Fire Department and Milwaukee Recreation Division of Milwaukee Public Schools, the Survive Alive House reaches nearly every second- and fifth-grade student enrolled in MPS. Since opening in 1992, it has welcomed more than 400,000 children.

The Survive Alive House plays a vital role in teaching children about the dangers of house fires, how to safely exit a burning home, and the importance of having a fire escape plan.

Thank you to Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Survive Alive House Director/Fire Captain Belinda Bradley, Community Relations Director/Fire Lieutenant Carlos Velazquez-Sanchez, MPS Interim Deputy Superintendent Michael Harris, Zablocki School Principal Stephanie Morgan, and the Milwaukee Police Department for joining us and sharing remarks with the media and our second-grade visitors. Special thanks to Captain Bradley for providing the students with Domino's Lunch!

Today, we had the pleasure of visiting several Milwaukee Public Schools to congratulate the winners of our 2026 Fire Prevention Week Poster-to-Billboard Contest!

Students in three age groups (K–Grade 2, Grades 3–5, and Grades 6–8) created entries inspired by this year’s theme: “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower!” The theme highlights simple steps everyone can take to safely charge lithium-ion battery-powered devices.

Our 2026 Grand Prize winner, eighth grader Mariela from Longfellow School, will have her artwork featured on two billboards in Milwaukee beginning this Monday through the duration of Fire Prevention Week.

Congratulations to all of our wonderful winners, and thank you to every school and student who participated! Special thanks to the Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Admirals for contributing tickets for our winners.

We had a very special visitor stop by Station 33 this week!

Ghibli is currently looking for his forever family!

This sweet guy is about as chill as they come. He’s an excellent car passenger, walks beautifully on a leash, and when he stopped by the firehouse? He was friendly with everyone he met!
