Congratulations to Josh Kunze on being named the Austin Fire Chief. His new leadership role began on September 8, 2026.

During his pinning ceremony Chief Kunze went on to say that he takes great pride in the history of the Austin Fire Department, and that he is honored to be a part of it.

Join Meredith Hawes from the National Fire Protection Association at the 2026 Annual Conference as she presents “Hot Topics: National Fire Protection Association – A Peek Behind the Curtain.”

For nearly 130 years, NFPA has worked to reduce death, injury, and property loss from fire, electrical, and related hazards through the development of more than 300 codes and standards used around the world.
