On International Day of Action for Women’s Health, we recognize that access to healthcare, mental health support, substance use treatment, safe housing, and community resources are essential to the wellbeing of women and families.

At Meta House, we see every day how whole-person care and compassionate support can help women heal, rebuild, and move forward. Women deserve access to healthcare services, safe environments, supportive communities, and the ability to make informed decisions about their health and futures.

Women’s health includes mental health, recovery, safety, dignity, and access to care without stigma.

We stand in support of the health, wellbeing, and resilience of women in our community and beyond.

Supporting someone living with a mental health or substance use challenge starts with understanding, compassion, and connection.

Being there for someone may look like listening without judgement, helping them access support, or simply reminding them they are not alone. If someone is struggling or in crisis, help is available 24/7 through the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline by call or text anywhere in the U.S.

Healing is about more than the absence of symptoms. It includes safe housing, supportive relationships, stability, and access to care that treats the whole person.

Words matter.

The way we talk about mental health, substance use, recovery, housing instability, and healing can shape whether someone feels judged or supported. When we focus on the person, not the diagnosis, we create safer and more compassionate conversations.

Mental health touches every one of us, either directly or through someone we love. Choosing respectful, supportive language helps people feel seen, heard, and understood, especially during difficult seasons of life or recovery.

Sometimes the most powerful question we can ask is:
“How can we help?”

Parents, caregivers, teachers, healthcare providers, and communities all play an important role in supporting youth mental health. Often, the first step is simply listening.

Changes in mood, sleep, appetite, behavior, or energy may be signs that a young person is struggling and could benefit from support.

Open conversations about mental health can help children and teens feel more comfortable asking for help and remind them they are not alone.

If someone you love is facing mental health or substance use challenges, support exists for individuals and families alike.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re encouraging understanding, compassion, and conversations that help reduce stigma. Serious mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and major depression can affect anyone, and support starts with learning how to better show up for one another.

Many individuals experiencing mental health conditions may also face substance use challenges, which is why whole-person care and access to treatment matter.

Throughout May, we’ll be sharing resources, education, and ways our community can support mental wellness for all.

Creativity has a way of bringing people together.

Clients in our residential program recently repurposed VHS cases as jewelry boxes and picture frames during a Bob Ross-inspired activity.

Art and creative activities continue to be an important part of programming at Meta House, offering opportunities for self-expression and skill-building.

We love seeing the creativity, individuality, and care that go into each project!
