Milwaukee County once again proved it is the foundation of Democratic success in Wisconsin, delivering a decisive victory for Chris Taylor with 146,402 votes (75.8%) compared to 46,710 (24.2%) for Maria Lazar — a commanding +51.6 margin. Just as importantly, the county continues to trend in the right direction, with Democrats improving from 69.6% in 2024 to 75.8% in 2026 (+12.4 points), while also building on gains from 2025 (+2.3). From the City of Milwaukee to communities like West Allis and Cudahy, this broad, countywide strength shows that voters are not only turning out, but increasingly supporting Democratic leadership and values in every corner of the county.

The Democratic Party of Milwaukee County condemns the federal government's detention of Salah Sarsour, a 32-year permanent legal resident and one of the most prominent Muslim community leaders in America.

This is not immigration enforcement. This is political persecution.

Salah Sarsour is being targeted because he is Palestinian-American and because he has advocated for human rights. His detention is part of a pattern, alongside the abductions of Mahmoud Khalil, Rumeysa Ozturk, and others, of the Trump administration using immigration law as a weapon against people it views as political enemies. Abolish ICE.

We demand Salah Sarsour's immediate release. We stand with the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, with Milwaukee's immigrant communities, and with everyone who refuses to be intimidated into silence.
