Heavy rain and storms are in the forecast. Every drop counts when it comes to reducing the risk of basement backups and sewer overflows. Please try to use less water:
- Hold off on washing dishes and laundry
- Take a shorter shower
- Empty your rain barrel

A large swath of moderate to heavy rain is expected to track over southern Wisconsin this morning, with 1-2 inches rain, and locally higher amounts to 3 inches, possible along a line from Lone Rock to Port Washington. Urban and small stream flooding will be possible, as well as isolated flash flooding.

Rain will continue at times through Thursday evening. An additional half to 2 inches of rainfall is expected, with locally higher amounts along the WI/IL border. Moderate-intensity rainfall rates will arrive around midnight and diminish by mid Thursday morning. Ponding of water in low lying areas will be possible, along with river rises by the end of the week.

Round 1 of the rain will come to an end by late morning. There'll be a lull in the rain before a second round of showers and storms develops this afternoon in western Wisconsin. This rain/storms are expected to lingering into the overnight hours before clearing from west to east by Sunday morning.

Showers and storms will continue to move through southern Wisconsin this morning. Repeated rounds of showers and storms today into tonight may lead to flash flooding. The greatest concern for flash flooding is for areas along/south of a line from the Wisconsin Dells to Burlington.

A High Swim Risk is in effect through Wednesday for Lake Michigan beaches in Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties. Persistent east to northeast winds, high waves, and dangerous water currents are expected. Stay out of the water!
