Municipal Court Launches Video-Conference Hearings

As the COVID-19 virus continues to pose a threat, the Court must take steps to enable normalization of Court functions while protecting both its workforce and the public it serves. Implementation of hearings via video-conference provides the means of resuming court operations in a manner that is as efficient and safe as possible. The Court will launch this new hearing process on Monday, July 6, 2020.

Members of the public with a scheduled hearing will be required to pre-register with the Court, to set a time for their video-conference hearing. A notice will be sent to defendants about 10 days in advance of their scheduled hearing date.

Defendants will be required to call 414-286-6600 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to schedule the hearing. This phone line is dedicated to answer registration calls only.

People who are unable to proceed via video-conference must still pre-register to appear in person. Safety protocols of the CDC guidelines for physical distancing will be maintained. All hearing sessions will be limited to no more than 10 people in the courtroom.

Anyone not currently scheduled for a hearing, should not call the hotline. For all other Court related information, the main information line is available: 414-286-3800.

Juvenile matters are on hold until further notice. Please note that the Court is unable to discuss juvenile matters by telephone. Written correspondence may be submitted via email at [email protected] or via U.S. mail.

The Milwaukee Municipal Court issues EMERGENCY and TEMPORARY MEASURES effective March 16, 2020, through May 1, 2020, until further Order of the Court.

TO MAKE A PAYMENT DURING THIS TIME, please do so online. The Court’s payment window and telephone payment line will not be available during this time.

Online payments will be processed on Thursday, March 19. Beginning on March 24, payments will be processed on Tuesdays only.

The World Health Organization has declared a global pandemic of the COVID-19 coronavirus and the State, County and City has declared a public health emergency as a result. The Milwaukee Municipal Court is monitoring the situation and is committed to protecting the health and safety of both its staff and the public who use the Court’s services.

Milwaukee Municipal Court - Homeless Community Court. Handling court issues for Milwaukee's most vulnerable citizens at Homeless Connect. Haircuts, hygiene products, medical screenings, dental exams, volunteer lawyers, clean slate, eye exams, birth certificates, jobs, and drivers licenses. One stop shop.
