🍂 Fall Leaf Collection begins today
Milwaukee’s Fall Leaf Rake Out period runs through November 15. Residents can rake leaves into the curb lane for collection or use the new paper bag option this fall.
If using paper bags, place them at the curb line or lawn edge, not in the street or alley. Plastic bags are not allowed. Bagging is especially encouraged in areas with limited street parking, bike lanes, traffic calming areas and locations prone to flooding.
For loose leaves, keep piles away from storm drains, sewer grates and low hanging trees. Flowers, weeds and garden trimmings can be placed on top of leaf piles, but grass clippings, pumpkins, litter and brush should be kept out.
November 15 is the final day to rake or bag leaves for collection. If weather conditions delay leaf drop and significant amounts of leaves remain on trees, DPW may extend the deadline and will announce any extension.
Residents can also mulch, compost or leave leaves where they fall.
