The time to get organized against ICE is now! We need to coordinate mass action across the whole city that is made up of schools, students, and workers walking out and marching against the occupation in Minneapolis. We NEED a strike to spread to every city and town until ICE is gone for good!! Together we can shut down the economy and stop Trumps authoritarian regime in its tracks. Come join us to discuss how we can concretely make this happen on Friday February 6th‼️

No ICE! No War! All out to stop Trump’s authoritarian regime!
Over the last few days, branches of Socialist Alternative across the US have been protesting the murder of Renee Good and ICE terror. We join thousands of angered young and working people to talk about next steps to fight back, including escalatory actions and strikes.
Join us this Sunday, Jan 11 @ 7 @ ZAO MKE Church for a public organizing meeting to talk about how we can build democratic movement structures and escalate the fight in our workplaces, schools, and communities!

Renee Nicole Good, a mother, poet, and musician, was legally documenting ICE activities when ICE agents approached her and tried to force open her door. An agent then shot her in the face as she tried to drive away, and she died as ICE blocked ambulances from reaching her.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem justified the ICE agent as acting in self-defense against an “act of domestic terrorism,” which video of the shooting reveals to be a clearly ridiculous charge. Trump doubled down on these claims and blamed the “radical left.”
The simmering outrage in the Twin Cities has broken the surface based on this horrific act of right-wing violence.
Demonstrations have been ongoing since the murder, and more are being organized for the coming days, as well as across the country.
Swipe through to read our analysis of the situation, and what working class people outraged at this brutality, on top of ICE’s abductions, can do to win justice for Renee and all victims of state violence.

Milwaukee SAlt members spend the weekend in Maryland at our National Convention, our highest national decision-making body. Included here is a group photo, a photo of the members of the Milwaukee branch who attended, and one of our local comades, Addi, who gave a killer finance appeal that just about blew the roof off the building!
We spent the weekend discussing the most important issues the working class and the revolutionary socialist movement is faced with today, and what to do about them. We were joined by visitors and ISA members from all across the world, coming from the ISA in Canada, Sweden, Brazil, and the China/Hong Kong/Taiwan section as well.
The convention marked an important milestone in our efforts to build a revolutionary party of battle-tested class fighters with real roots in all the movements of young, working, and oppressed people, most importantly the labor movement. If you’re reading this and understand the need to do away with the rotten capitalist system, message us today to get involved!

Socialist Alternative member Sophie spoke with well over a dozen others tonight at Port Washington City Hall, where the vast majority of speakers spoke against the green-lighting of this data center.
Especially important is the demand multiple speakers raised about putting the data center’s construction to a referendum vote - an idea which none of the elected officials at the meeting deigned to respond to.
The second biggest scoffs of the night was when the mayor had he said he had been very lenient with allowing the public to raise objections, as if our elected representatives are kings of their little corner of the world and not responsible to us! The biggest was when, after overwhelming public opposition, not a single person voted against proceeding, and then passed the mic off to a representative of Vantage.
The fight is not over, but in order to win we need to reverse course and build momentum. Especially important would be refusing to allow the building trades unions to be turned against the climate movement, and making political appeals to the rank and file of the building trades unions while also taking up demands around not just stopping the Data Center, but taxing the rich to fund the creation of green infrastructure and social housing, which would create many good union jobs. The climate movement can’t allow itself to be pit against labor, especially when these Data Centers are a going to create redundancies and destroy jobs!

STOP THE AI DATA CENTER! KICK VANTAGE OUT OF PORT WASHINGTON!
Students, labor, and the climate movement unite to fight the AI Data Center!
This proposed new data center is going to guzzle water, drive up energy prices, and be used by Billionaire Bosses to create redundancies and lay off workers. Unite to fight back!
We can’t let the labor movement be pit against the climate movement - if the building trades and other workers need work, we should tax the rich and put the building trades to work building social housing and repair crumbling infrastructure!
JOIN US AT THE NEXT PUBLIC HEARING!
IF WE FIGHT, WE CAN WIN!

JUSTICE FOR TREY REED!
On September 16th, campus police at Delta State University in Mississippi found the body of 21-year-old university student Demartravion “Trey” Reed hanging from a tree by the pickleball courts. Hours later, the same police found another man, Corey Zukatis, lynched in a nearby forest.
The police reported that both were “su***des,” and that no foul play was involved, but we must be crystal clear: this was not su***de. This was right-wing violence against a Black man and a homeless man.
Swipe through to read statement on these horrific lynchings, and how we can fight to win justice for the victims and their families.

Socialist Alternative is the organization that spearheaded the campaign to elect Kshama Sawant to Seattle City Council in 2013, the first independent socialist elected in a major U.S. city in decades. We then led the successful campaign to raise Seattle’s minimum wage to the highest in the country, providing a massive boost to the $15 Now campaign that is spreading around the country.
Kshama Sawant was successfully re-elected to the Seattle City Council in 2015 and 2019 as a Socialist Alternative member, without any corporate cash. Kshama, Socialist Alternative and the movement behind her were able to do this despite half a million dollars being spent on the campaign to unseat her in 2015. We did it again in an even more significant manner in 2019 despite an all out assault of millions of dollars in corporate PAC money led by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world.
Socialist Alternative is a national organization fighting in our workplaces, communities, and campuses against the exploitation and injustices people face every day. We are community activists fighting against budget cuts in public services; we are activists campaigning for a $15 an hour minimum wage and fighting, democratic unions; we are people of all colors speaking out against racism and attacks on immigrants, students organizing against tuition hikes and war, women and men fighting s*xism, homophobia and transphobia.
We believe the Republicans and Democrats are both parties of big business, and we are campaigning to build an independent, alternative party of workers and young people to fight for the interests of the millions, not the millionaires.
We see the global capitalist system as the root cause of the economic crisis, poverty, discrimination, war, and environmental destruction. As capitalism moves deeper into crisis, a new generation of workers and youth must join together to take the top 500 corporations into public ownership under democratic control to end the ruling elites’ global competition for profits and power. We believe the dictatorships that existed in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe were perversions of what socialism is really about.
We are for democratic socialism where ordinary people will have control over our daily lives. Socialist Alternative is in political solidarity with the Committee for a Workers’ International, a worldwide socialist organization in 47 countries, on every continent. Join us!
Fighting for the 99%
Raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, as a step toward a living wage for all.
Free, high quality public education for all from pre-school through college. Full funding for schools to dramatically lower student-teacher ratios. Stop the focus on high stakes testing and the drive to privatize public education.
Free, high quality health care for all. Replace the failed for-profit insurance companies with a publicly funded single-payer system as a step towards fully socialized medicine.
No budget cuts to education and social services! Full funding for all community needs. A major increase in taxes on the rich and big business, not working people.
Create living-wage union jobs for all the unemployed through public works programs to develop mass transit, renewable energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and affordable housing.
For rent control combined with massive public investment in affordable housing.
A guaranteed decent pension for all. No cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid!
A minimum guaranteed weekly income of $600/week for the unemployed, disabled, stay-at-home parents, the elderly, and others unable to work.
Repeal all anti-union laws like Taft-Hartley. For democratic unions run by the rank-and-file to fight for better pay, working conditions, and social services. Full-time union officials should be regularly elected and receive the average wage of those they represent.
No more layoffs! Take bankrupt and failing companies into public ownership.
Break the power of Wall Street! For public ownership and democratic control of the major banks.
Shorten the workweek with no loss in pay and benefits; share out the work with the unemployed and create new jobs.
Environmental Sustainability
Fight climate change. Massive public investment in renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies to rapidly replace fossil fuels.
A major expansion of public transportation to provide low fare, high-speed, and accessible transit.
Democratic public ownership of the big energy companies, retooling them for socially necessary green production. A “Just Transition” for all workers in polluting industries with guaranteed re-training and new living-wage jobs.
Equal Rights for All
Fight discrimination based on race, nationality, gender, s*xual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, and all other forms of prejudice. Equal pay for equal work.
Black Lives Matter! Build a mass movement against police brutality and the institutional racism of the criminal justice system. Invest in rehabilitation, job-training, and living-wage jobs, not prisons! Abolish the death penalty.
Defend immigrant rights! Immediate, unconditional legalization and equal rights for all undocumented immigrants.
Fight s*xual harassment, violence against women, and all forms of s*xism.
Defend a woman’s right to choose whether and when to have children. For a publicly funded, single-payer health care system with free reproductive services, including all forms of birth control and safe, accessible abortions. Comprehensive s*x education. At least 12 weeks of paid family leave for all. For universal, high quality, affordable and publicly run child care.
Fight discrimination and violence against the LGBTQ community, and all forms of homophobia and transphobia.
Money for Jobs and Education, Not War
End the occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq. Bring all the troops home now!
Slash the military budget. No drones. Shut down Guantanamo.
Repeal the Patriot Act, NDAA, and all other attacks on democratic rights.
Break with the Two Parties of Big Business
For a mass workers party drawing together workers, young people and activists from environmental, civil rights, and women’s campaigns, to provide a fighting, political alternative to the corporate parties.
Unions and other social movement organizations should stop funding and supporting the Democratic and Republican Parties and instead organize independent left-wing, anti-corporate candidates and coalitions as a first step toward building a workers’ party.
Socialism and Internationalism
Capitalism produces poverty, inequality, environmental destruction, and war. We need an international struggle against this failed system. No to corporate “free trade” agreements, which mean job losses and a race to the bottom for workers and the environment.
Solidarity with the struggles of workers and oppressed peoples internationally: An injury to one is an injury to all.
Take into public ownership the top 500 corporations and banks that dominate the U.S. economy. Run them under the democratic management of elected representatives of the workers and the broader public. Compensation to be paid on the basis of proven need to small investors, not millionaires.
A democratic socialist plan for the economy based on the interests of the overwhelming majority of people and the environment. For a socialist United States and a socialist world.
